Beautiful hotel where we were upgraded to a family room. We stayed for 2 nights and spent Christmas here during our trip to Hangzhou. The hotel, it's room and the staffs were very good and helpful. The staffs were unable to communicate in decent English which made it difficult to get things done. But there were 6 Nepali interns who were there (hotel management) who made our life easier. The hotel had a Chinese restaurant at its 22nd floor but the choices were extremely limited. Only then we realised that there is a buffet dinner every night at the 3rd floor. We had our buffet dinner on 25th December (Christmas Day). Do note that the buffet dinner starts at 5 and ends at 7 (dinner comes early here). The TV choices are great for Hollywood film lovers and they had a wide range of movies. It was well spent Christmas here before we headed back to Shanghai.

The Hotel is located 10min walking distance to the West Lake on a very busy street. The staff is able to speak English language. The rooms are very large with air condition, minibar (only usable via Mobile phone app) .

I just returned from a concert tour of China with my choir. All hotels were booked by the tour company so I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the Sunny was. The room was spacious and well lit and the bed extremely comfortable (even though the mattress was on the firm side). The bathroom was clean and modern with excellent water pressure. The room had a safe, a fridge and a tea kettle. The breakfast buffet provided many delicious choices for both eastern and western tastes.

A big, beautiful lobby. A grand, circular lobby bar with an elaborate ceiling and books adorning the walls. You'd think the room would match. It didn't. Some of the money spent on the lobby area could be spread out into updating the rooms. Once we got off the elevator on our floor, it reeked of cigarette smoke. Our room was safe from the smell largely. Old carpet, outdated bathroom (the shower curtain, tub area needs an overhaul), and the hardest beds on our trip. I'll be staying elsewhere next time in Hangzhou.

Whatever renovation was done has really paid off. The hotel is very large (which I'm sure it was before the renovation), glamorous, great-looking, and bright. We didn't see the cartoon-character rooms, so you probably have to ask for them. Personally, we were delighted with our superior room, which was very large. Beds were Chinese hard, but still quite comfortable. Lots of room for luggage, a closet with a safe, bathrobes had been cleaned and were in bags on a shelf at the top of the closet. Comfy slippers provided. Our room was on the 18th floor and was way too warm. As we have found throughout China, the heating is a central system and cannot be adjusted in the room. So opening a window is your only option. Bottled water provided, and there was a pillow "menu". Only problem was that when we called downstairs for one type of pillow, they delivered a different one. Language barrier, and not a big deal. Bathroom is fine but does not reflect the obvious updates done elsewhere in the room, hallway, and public spaces. Maybe they will get to the bathrooms at a later date, but they are OK for now. There are large containers of bath products in the bathroom, but there are no English translations on the labels, so you can take your best guess. Shower pressure is great. The "do not disturb" is set with a button by the bed, with labels in English. There is also a mini-bar, which looks like a small vending machine with clear panels to see what you are getting. Overall, a very good stay.

Renovated last year (2017), it’s a great place to stay in especially if you have kids, they offer themed rooms with your favourite cartoon characters (Frozen, Hello Kitty etc). Great breakfast buffet, great bell service. Most of the reviews here were done before renovation so really it doesn’t go the hotel any justice. Will definitely stay here again!

This hotel would have been quite a popular hotel in the 60's I think. Everything was marble in the lobby with high ceilings. It has not really moved out of that era! The room was a fair size with 2 beds which were very hard the bathroom was quite small. The anti slip mat was moulds as was the grouting. My husband and son walked to west lake in the evening, which was lovely and convenient. The breakfast was OK, ,staff not very friendly, but they did help arranging coffee. Overall a reasonable hotel if you don't expect too much.

The room is spacious. In room facilities etc are standard with safe, mini bar, LCD TV, free Internet but no wifi. TV channels are all local Chinese stations. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, and not too tasty either. It is however near the scenic West Lake, and it is possible to walk there from the hotel. The price of the room is great value for money though.

Stayed there for two nights. Overall service met my expectations because I am not picky. But my wife didn't like the hotel for these reasons: 1. smoky and cold lobby; 2. tiring hallway (especially the carpet); 3. small bathroom. To be fair, these are true. The hotel really needs some upgrade. Location-wise, the hotel is on a busy streeet but still about 20-30 minutes walk to the West Lake.
