We stayed at the Hangzhou Overseas Chinese Hotel, Hangzhou; or (West Lake) China for a couple of nights. We had arrived by train from Shanghai, now for a taxi? There was a pool of taxis waiting, and they were like leeches, all trying to get our fare. Finally we arrived at our hotel; this time with our marriage documents in... More

Room was really spacious. But it was located in another building that looked more like a worn out apartment than hotel. Elevator was pretty scary as it was slow, old and dirty. I wouldn't dare taking it at night if I were all by myself! TV was the box type that's got a few damages on the screen. Bathroom was... More

Con: room is small, most room has smoking smells, the bed is... More

Read on Wiki Travel that this was a great value hotel since it shares the same awesome view of the West Lake as the Hyatt but you only pay a quarter of the price. That's true, but you get what you pay for. Firstly, in order to get the room with a view, you have to pay double the price... More

I was here with my parents, mother-in-law, and husband. Our room was booked and paid for through a friend of my mother-in-law (can't get by in China without guanxi, go figure). So it's not my intention at all to be ungrateful. However, for any future travelers looking to come here, I would recommend thinking twice! Yes, it is true that... More

We stayed here while visiting friends in Hangzhou. They made/paid for our reservations and so I can't comment on the price. The room size were fine and the beds were comfortable. There were large windows that opened toward a lake view. The negatives were the stained carpets and the bathrooms that needed some TLC (shower was moldy looking). I was... More

I went with my father for two days in the beginning of November. The location is great, right off West Lake. The pier is right in front of the hotel. The price is reasonable. However, it is somewhat worn-out and a little dirty. Stains on towel and bathtub. The service is quite rude. Not friendly at all. The breakfast was... More

I stayed at the Overseas Chinese Hotel in Hangzhou, China two weeks ago and I couldn't agree with all the other reviewers more. I didn't see any sleazy women but the brat next door was unbearable. The smoke odor from the corridor seeping into the room was sickening. Sure it has a great location right in front of West Lake... More

I stayed in this hotel for my first night in Hangzhou. The fact that I was in the city for nearly a month and never returned to the Overseas Chinese hotel should indicate how I felt about it. First, the location, across the street from the most popular part of Westlake was great....really unbeatable, unless you prefer to be in... More
