There are plenty of reasons to recommend this property but a few glitches got in the way from total enjoyment. First, I must say that the location and grounds of Amanfayun are worth a stay despite some of the flaws in the rooms. You will feel like you are in an ancient village with beauty all around you, wrapping you... More

A switch of tempo from Shanghai. The property itself retains and preserves ancient tea village life; with villas dotted on both sides of the main pathway. Our duplex village villa was generous in space, equipped with modern conveniences and contemporary furniture with Chinese accents. Interior wise, it was a little to dimly lit for my preference. Was told it was... More

It made me feel so relaxed and I really hated to leave this resort after 2-day living. Amanfayun Hangzhou has been renowned among the buddhists in Hangzhou and from other countries. Quiet and religious atmosphere are the key factors that drew me to the hidden paradise just near Lingyin Temple. You can see exclusive architectural rooms and winding paths in... More

We spent 2 nights at the Village suite #18 for Valentine's getaway. The layout of the village from dynasty Song was well-preserved, the interior was nicely decorated without losing the authenticity. We were greeted by the GM upon arrival and welcomed with roses and red wine in the room. The hotel village is relatively un-spoilt despite being surrounded by hugely... More

Having travelled to more than 50 countries worldwide and staying at all the best hotels in the world - Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Shangri-La, St Regis and many of the Aman Resorts...this is probably one of the better Aman resorts. The resort is nicely decorated and a real haven for guests because the rest of Hangzhou is simply too overcrowded.... More

We've stayed at the Amangiri in Utah two years in a row (which is AMAZING). So when we visited Hangzhou, we decided to stay at another Aman. Overall, it was pretty good. We stayed in room 51 which is a two bedroom suite. The butler (Ms. Yao), was fantastic, but all the guards dressed in brown were quite unpleasant to... More

Let me introduce myself as a ‘discerning traveler’ who has stayed in some of the most luxurious hotels of the world (Four Seasons, St Regis, COMO, Rosewood, Peninsula to name a few). When traveling, I like to pick my hotels by using websites such as Kiwicollection, Conde Nast magazine, Travel & Leisure (see my other reviews and my blog). So... More

We had a marvelous time at amanfayun. The property is beautiful, and you feel like you are stepping back in time as you walk through this village that has been converted into the actual resort property. It is lush, green, and nestled in a valley surrounded by temples and monasteries and terraced tea plantations. There are several small restaurants on-property,... More

Having been to Hangzhou several times, I've visited almost all the famous tourist spots. This is the first time we get chance to explore the very serene part of Hnagzhou. Located next to the Lingyin Temple, this resort expresses itself serenely and gracefully. No fancy decoration, just the original flavour - the village house, the creek, the pebble walkway, the... I'm writing this in-depth review hoping to give people who are considering staying here a comprehensive picture of this place. Will also be providing a resort map for those seeking to understand the resort layout. Overall, I would say this is without a doubt the most beautiful resort in natural surroundings I have stayed at. The uniqueness of the place... More
