This place is magical - unbeatable location, culture and experience. Staff are fantastic too. One of the best Amans I have stayed in. I also stayed at the Banyan Tree and although beautiful it does not come close.

I am just back from Amanfayun. What a wonderful place. It is an old Chinese village next to a Buddhist temple. It is really like going back in time. The villas are restored village houses with a lot if charm. No cars around and immersed in the nature. A great place to relax. I really advise it also for families.

I've longed to visit this property for a long time and at last, I did. But it proved to be a disappointing experience, or it couldn't be worse. Upon entering the property, I was attracted by the serene surrounding, everything looked so well organized. There was a concierge boy standing at the entrance, next to him, was a local driver.... If you are not planning a trip to Hangzhou, think again. This is one hotel that is worth the detour from Shanghai. It is a village that has been taken over by Aman. Each unit is its own house in the village. The restaurants are their own structures as well. The hotel is near many of the key sights in... More

Everything is fine, besides 10-20 worm (millipede) on our bed. Hotel changed another room for us in the evening 9:30pm. It's lucky we haven't got on the bed yet. Esther from Taiwan

Everything was perfect, especially the service, which is always top notch at Aman Properties. Staying here made feel like I was living in an old ancient Chinese village hundreds of years ago. The property itself is quiet and secluded and the rock grotto sculptures just outside the property are simply magnificent! I loved that I could walk right out of... More

If you are looking for marble and opulence, go elsewhere. Many fine resorts will meet your needs. If you prefer peacefulness, and a connection with the past, and you are willing to open your mind, you risk being enchanted with your stay at Amanfayun. While wandering through the property, don't be surprised to hear a caged bird greet you in... More

If you have had the good fortune of staying at other Amans, you will be deeply disappointed at this property which appears for local consumption as much as those who have higher expectations. The location is nice and it's great to be able to walk right to the temples. The rooms are somewhere between strange and just badly designed. The... More

We decided on Hangzhou because of the Unesco World Heritage SIte, West Lake and found the Trail of Seven Temples intriguing. The Amanfayun is an interesting experience as they have "leased" these historic Chinese buildings along a ancient stone pathway surrounded by bamboo and used by monks, other tourists and the community. We found their hospitality to be excellent, and... More

Typical Disney-esque makeover of a poor peasant village outside Hangzhou with the intention to convince fireign travellers who dont know better that they have had a 'China Experience'. Irritatingtly bad: staff seem poorly managed with little or no understanding of how to handle high paying guests: on occasion it seemed like it was the staff having a good time and... More
