We had a marvelous time at amanfayun. The property is beautiful, and you feel like you are stepping back in time as you walk through this village that has been converted into the actual resort property. It is lush, green, and nestled in a valley surrounded by temples and monasteries and terraced tea plantations. There are several small restaurants on-property,... More

Having been to Hangzhou several times, I've visited almost all the famous tourist spots. This is the first time we get chance to explore the very serene part of Hnagzhou. Located next to the Lingyin Temple, this resort expresses itself serenely and gracefully. No fancy decoration, just the original flavour - the village house, the creek, the pebble walkway, the... I'm writing this in-depth review hoping to give people who are considering staying here a comprehensive picture of this place. Will also be providing a resort map for those seeking to understand the resort layout. Overall, I would say this is without a doubt the most beautiful resort in natural surroundings I have stayed at. The uniqueness of the place... More

Unique experience -- old restored Chinese village, with gurgling stream, ancient pathways, Buddhas carved into rocks on valley walls, serenity except for an occasional honking goose. Terrific break from hustle, bustle of modern China. All the service and quality you expect at an Aman, along with the very special setting. I used to think the prices charged at Amans were... More

Let me count all the negatives first: - The room was very dark, so dark that after turning on all the lights, even twisting the shades to face the ceiling to better reflect light, I still couldn't see my suitcase well enough to find my clothes; I can understand mood lighting, but this is too much, something the management needs... Very old school, the first of Amans I have ever stayed at. Lots of monks walking around the grounds, for a moment my family and I forgot that we are staying in a resort! Very quiet since it is far from any traffic, a great way to get in touch with nature. I would highly recommend this place for anyone... More

We have stayed in many of the Aman properties across the world, however this one remains one of our firm favourites. It is important to understand that the property is an old Buddhist village, and that most of the buildings are old, and whilst refurbished to the very high Aman standard, they look old (because they are). Inside the rooms... More

This place is magical - unbeatable location, culture and experience. Staff are fantastic too. One of the best Amans I have stayed in. I also stayed at the Banyan Tree and although beautiful it does not come close.

I am just back from Amanfayun. What a wonderful place. It is an old Chinese village next to a Buddhist temple. It is really like going back in time. The villas are restored village houses with a lot if charm. No cars around and immersed in the nature. A great place to relax. I really advise it also for families.

I've longed to visit this property for a long time and at last, I did. But it proved to be a disappointing experience, or it couldn't be worse. Upon entering the property, I was attracted by the serene surrounding, everything looked so well organized. There was a concierge boy standing at the entrance, next to him, was a local driver....
