So, I'm passing through Kunming and I learn that my layover will be stretched to a 1/2 day and there are no landside lounges (besides rooms for $15/hr) in the airport. Kai Wah seemed to be the most sensible choice in the middle of the city, a few blocks from the main train station. I was here over CNY, so... More

The Kai Wah Plaza International is a clean, modern hotel. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I arrived late and there was a large group from HK checking-in ahead of me. One staff member walked around the group and asked me to one side -- saving me :20 minutes or more in line! Once I had been given the... More

5 star hotel with 4 star amenities. Room was warm enough as the air condition was working fine. Other than that nothing to shout about except it is near train station with airport buses that you can take at jinjiang hotel which is diagonally opposite this hotel. Swimming pool area needs to be upgraded as it is very old and... More

There are no western chain hotels in Kunming [although a new Intercontinental has just opened, but not very central] This is probably the closest hotel you will find to international standard and ticks most boxes. Comfortable rooms, large bathrooms and good breakfast Go for the highest floor you can for some excellent far reaching views... and of course will be... More

Our hotel room was lovely - 29th floor. Bathtub with separate shower and well appointed. Breakfast catered better for western tastes than other similar hotels in other parts of China. We left our credit card in an ATM machine at the airport on arrival (didn't see that we had to press the EXIT button to retrieve card!) and Moon was... More

A good option for someone who does not know the city. I foolishly did not check TripAdvisor and failed to realise that you need to specify that you require a room on a higher floor. Therefore our room although quite adequate was fairly small. Friends who stayed on the 30th floor had large apartments for the same room rate. The... More

Kunming being the capital of Yunnan province is a great place to start your adventure. And the Kai Wah Plaza is a sensible place to stay. Rooms are clean and modern. Shower is in the same room as the bath, which is quite a modern touch. All facilities work well, even the Wifi, though slow, does the job. Of course... More

Even though Kunming has about 4+ million people, this 5-star hotel is not as good as those in Shanghai. The main problem is their air conditioning system. It's really warm in the room and you can't adjust much. The room is clean with large shower room. I had problem with key card again (as I did in Shanghai). Something must... More

The hotel has all of the basic business amenities - clean rooms, acceptable breakfast - but none of the extra touches that can make some of the other 4 or 5 star hotels feel that little bit more special. The location is fine, close to the train station, but in a very boring part of the city - you're better... More

We stayed in this hotel for one night during a weekend trip to Kunming. The hotel is quite large in size. The check-in was done quickly for Chinese relations but without the extraordinary treatment which you can expect in a international high level hotel. The rooms were bigger in size than I thought. It was clean and had a nice... More
