We stayed at the Camellia for 2 nights. This was a good base and was central enough. Having spoke to some others i wish we would have stayed at Cloudland Hostel. We choose this place because we though we would treat ourselves to a hotel room.... although the room it self was ok the place is very drab indeed. The... more

Don't you dare asking for a taxi. This is the first hotel where I'm told to go outside to the road and look for a taxi by myself!! It was 6 am and no car on the road and it took us 20 minutes to find a taxi. The hotel service people told us that they had no phone number... more

we walked around kunming for 4 hours before returning to camellia to stay for 2 nights. the desk staff were pretty rude but not as rude as at other hotels in the area. we stayed two nights at Y100 per night. it was Y120 originally but i found out that it was because they secretly included breakfast. the price without... more

We were glad we were staying here only one night at the start of a package tour. Although the Hotel looks good from the outside and in the lobby, we were assigned a room in a dingy and run-down annex. The rooms were moderately clean but the corridors were so badly lit it was hard to tell if they were... more

We were happy enough with our 3 night stay at the Camellia - it is nothing special, but we found it to be clean, had reasonable service and the room was fine. The location of the hotel is quite central - a 10-15 minute walk will get you to the central square (intersection of Beijing Lu and Dongfeng Dong Lu),... more

Camellia Hotel is located in the down town areas with good opportunities for the visitors to see the real and original Kunming. Nearby are fairly good shopping centres. The hotel has good foods. The rooms, lobbys, and toilets are clean. The room rates are quite economic. The hotel staff are very friendly and many of them can speak good English... more

Had read travellers' reviews on Camelia Hotel before booking a single room at the old wing at RMB120 per night for the first 3 nights. Room was old but had hot water and TV. Changed to a triple room in the hotel wing for the next three nights when two other friends joined me at RMB195 per night. Was not... more

I stayed here after lots of bad hotel stays in China. Rooms pretty basic, fairly clean and nice enough location. I was very excited to see a fully working bathroom with a shower screen! However, there was no hot water at 6am when I was leaving. The atrium area was quite nice, and there was free WIFI in the lobby.... more

The camellia Hotel offers 6-10 person dormitory beds, one of the cheapest way to sleep in kunming. They also have real room which i didn't try. A nice thing is the morning buffet, not especially good but not bad. A good choice for low budget travelers more

As we on budget this was probably one of the more expensive hotels we stayed in our month in China. No real complaints . Fine breakfast in the lobby area.Booked a trip to the Stone Forest through the the travel agent in the foyer. Was really only a ride to the front gate and then purchase your own ticket, make an... more
