The Lost Garden, whilst not a luxury place, was clean and well cared for with the rooms nicely designed with antique chinese furniture pieces and a comfortable bed with snowy white sheets. The bathrooms whilst small were usable, and shampoo and bath gel etc was supplied. The hot water was great. Whilst there my room was throughly cleaned every day.... More

Stayed for 2 nights in a twin room in the same building as the cafe (downstairs across the dorm room). While the room is quite small and the bathroom a bit dark; it has a very cozy feeling. Staffs are very friendly. We mostly walk to the main attraction in Kunming (they give a very useful map), and from there... More

I found this place to be very convenient for most times. - It is located just next to the green lake park. - Lots of shopping areas, restaurants around the hostel. - 2 bus stops away from the main shopping street in Kunming. - Just take a public bus to the east bus station where you can book the bus... Stayed here two times, before and after doing a short two week trip of Yunnan. Stayed both times in double rooms, once in room 104 and once in the slightly more expensive room 304. Room 104 is down a stairs and right next to some of the dorm rooms. It's a bit dark and also a bit noisy since a... More

Very good hostel, quiet, good decor, mostly good rooms (see room tips), hostel beds larger than many places and with thick mattresses, good food. Expensive drinks, not as non smoking as some of the ads ssuggest. Staff capable and pleasant,

Its the little things that make the difference. This hostel pays great attention to details that make the difference between convenience and comfort. The dorms have 4 beds. The beds are big with a lot of storage space like shelves and cabinets. The top bunk has a separate staircase to avoid the unhappy 'foot-in-face' situation that happens with a ladder... More

Pros: Location is perfect, tucked along a quiet alley 5 minutes from the lake. Service was friendly, chipper, and excellent. Great restaurant, fair prices- nice salads and pizza. Breakfast was also very good. Great cold imported beer selection! Recommendations for town and information were spot on. Pre-booked online- 180rmb/night for en suite room. Room size was adequate but on the... More

First of all, this place has the most comfortable beds. I stayed in one of the dormitory rooms, and it was great. The rooms are extremely clean, and all the furniture is like new, and the showers and bathrooms are awesome, and you can get a lock for the lockers at the front desk. The staff speaks very good English,... More

Big draw is the food: Love the stone-oven-baked pizza. Amazing. Accommodations are great. Love the comfy bed. Couple concerns: We never got to try the full breakfast because we were always passing through on a Sunday night. The kitchen is closed on Mondays! Hopefully owners will reconsider this awkwardness. Many travellers want to eat Lost Garden's awesome food before departing... More
