The Shangri La sits away from the historic centre of Xi'an along a ringroad marked by high rise construction activity typical of China's push to modernise. The sights are a 30 minute taxi journey away through the congestion so this hotel is probably better suited for business travellers. The hotel itself is typical of the chain, being modern, immaculate, well... more

Stayed here for a couple of days while in Xi'an. The location is far from the city center, but there are a couple of large shopping centers to walk to and restaurants to eat at close by. We did not find the location to be an issue as we had private tours throughout the days and very little time to... more

As I was born in this city, specifically in the area where this hotel is located, so I maybe very biased writing this review. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights for Xmas & New Year holiday. It's relatively new compared with other 4& 5 star hotels in Xian. It's located in the bustling business spot-Xian Hi-Tech park which... more

The hotel was fine, just avoid the buffet. Everyone in the group was sick the next day. more

This hotel is just a beautiful hotel. Really lavish, rich, and luxurious. It is a pretty amazing hotel. The breakfast is also over-the-top. Surprisingly, it is good, but it's not great. Lots of smoke & mirros with the breakfast display, but it came out as a very solid meal. The breakfast was not over-the-top with great food, unfortunately. The rooms... more

Good 5 star hotel, big room and nice service. However, it is far from the center of the town (aprox 20 minutes by taxi, but taxies are cheap in China - I paid arround 5-6 USD to go the the center). If you are a turist and want to visit xian I recommand to chose one closer to the center... more

Stayed here over a long weekend for a short sight-seeing trip. After reading prior Tripadvisor reviews, we were initially concerned about the location being far away from the main sight-seeing district, but in the end we were very happy with our choice. The hotel is a bit inconvenient in the sense that you have to take a 20-25 minute car... more

When we arrived at the Shangri-la after a rather brutal travel day, we literally sighed with relief when we entered the opulent doorway. Our rooms were also spotless, and the bathrooms were luxurious. We couldn't complain about one thing, and would stay there again. Our only caution: this is a very new hotel, and it doesn't look like it's made... more

Well, let me start off by saying that I am a big fan of Shangri-La Hotels, and am also a member of their frequent stay program. I place a lot of faith in getting a level of service consistently in their hotels, and attention to myself based on me being a frequent traveller and loyal to their hotels. I was... more

My daugher and I stayed for 2 nights at the Shangri-La in early June of this year. We stayed in a standard room. Although the hotel is very new, and the rooms and amenities are quite nice, we found the location to be very inconvenient. The hotel is located 20-25 minutes outside of the City center in a very sterile... more
