I have stayed at 7 Sages recently when travelling in China. I was very pleased. Hostel is very big, looking good, its quiet, room was big, although we had little issue in bathroom where sealant around the shower has gone so water was leaking out into shower room. Except that all great. Nice food, friendly staff. I was bit ill... More

After spending the night on the train from Beijing, we arrived in Xi'an early in the morning and walked from the train station to the hostel. We did not make any bookings and was very lucky that they have a private room for us and allowed us to check in immediately at 9am. The room was roomy and clean, and... More

For some inexplicable reason this hostel was not mentioned in the Lonely Planet... so we almost ended up at a real dump a bit further down the street. Very glad we changed our minds and glad that our taxi driver understood what we were looking for. In our somewhat broken language I think we mentioned the words "open", "garden" and... More

This hostel was nice. Xian was our last stop so we had stayed in other hostels and knew what to expect. We stayed here for three nights and had individual rooms. Probably the nicest rooms we had stayed in. Looked modern and the beds were comfy. Bathrooms were good and really clean. There was a TV in the room which... More

I don't like the city, but the hostel was awesome. It was in a traditional chinese style. You can have everything what you want (the restaurant was to expensive for me as a backpacker). Stuff is friendly, it's clean and not far from the trainstation.

Pros - the room we had we had our own shower, toilet and was clean. The beds were ok but after 3 days seemed too hard. The Courtyard area is nice to sit out in and speak to other travellers. I heard the food was very good but we did not try it. You can wash your clothes and hang... More

Pros: lovely courtyard area, lovely bar/restaurant section, clean & comfortable rooms, friendly accommodating staff Cons: close to the bus station but far from the centre, in a dodgy enough area (we walked passed what appeared to be a brothel one block away from the hostel), shower rooms in big need of redoing very old and murky.

This was absolutely fantastic, a top-notch place to stay while I escorted my handicapped 84-year old mother on an overseas odyssey. She is slow, using a cane, but speeded up a bit as her spirits lifted when the wonderful staff here gave her a genuine bamboo cane adorned with Chinese markings. Besides the attentive staff, another volunteer, DanYi, who spoke... More

I arrived in the middle of the night for a 2 night stay. There was no lighting to help find this place at night time and it took many loops of the area just to find it in the dark. When i got inside the staff pointed to my rooms direction and i had to find the room (single room)... More

Stayed at his place for a few nights however was disappointed. Was expensive in relation to other hostels in the area and I didn't feel it was value for money. Rooms were average, breakfast was really bad and was really disappointed with how unhelpful and unfriendly the staff were.
