As we were backpacking/flashpacking around Asia, checking into hotels like the Grand New World was like luxury. Although the rooms were great, everything we could ask for, I must admit I was disappointed that wifi was only available in the lobby. Now I've stayed in places for £5 a night and had amazing wifi, so I never quite understand why... More

This was our second stop on a tour and the hotel is fine. No problems with check in and out, room on 9th floor watching the traffic entertainment was clean, comfortable and quiet. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the plentiful breakfast and an evening meal. Comment from next table was "best lamb chops ever". Also had a quiet... More

The rooms were nice and comfortable, everything was in place. They also have a very nice resto-bar which is open till around 1:30am but is a little on the expensive side. Just across the road are the supermarkets where you can buy anything you want to. The lobby has a huge terracotta artefact which adds to the beauty of the... More

Firstly, it was a little hard to find the hotel because there is not any English words or signs in the outside of the hotel. The entrance and inside decoration is traditional Chinese style, especially to attract foreign tourists. Staff can speak English, there is no problem for the communication. Since there are lots of foreign tourists are staying in... More

we stayed here to visit the terracotta warriors and found the hotel cold the staff cold and the food cold. The staff were terrible they had 75 Europeans arriving and put two people on the desk with poor English. the rest of the staff around the hotel were no better. The bar staff the least friendly I have ever met... More

... As then it would get a higher rating from me. However to assess against a four star hotel means it has to be poor. The executive room was fine, bed comfortable and shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. We barely spent any time there however (essentially just to sleep) so its tough to say much else.... My two-night stay at this hotel was arranged as part of a tour organized by GATE 1 Travel. The hotel location is good but not superb. Located inside the old city wall about a 5 minute walk to the wall's west gate. It's about a 20 minute walk to the center where the historic Drum and Bell towers are located.... More

This is an average property, with no character whatsoever. Rooms are rather small and we also had problems with air con. Corridors low and dark. Breakfast eatable. Do not go to the pool area! It is dirty and smelly, especially the dressing rooms.

I've been there for three days and I found it good in several features: the breakfast was really various, the bedrooms standard, there is also a swimming pool for whom that want to cool themselves after a day of sightseeing in the heat of xian. The only big problem: the concierge doesn't speak english and is difficult to be undrestood... More
