The Grand New World Hotel was our staging post for 2 nights during our visits to the terracotta warriors and the museums of Xi'an. It's an impressive hotel with a grand lobby and a dramatic feature wall with sculptured warriors behind the reception area. Breakfast was fine but communication with the reception staff was difficult in English, being sent off... More

Second stop in China was the Grand New World Hotel, Xi'an, on a 2 week tour with Hayes and Jarvis. First impressions when walking into the hotel were great; large, very clean and well kept lobby area. Only stayed here 2 nights before moving onto a Yangtze river cruise and served its purpose of sleeping and eating! Bedrooms were bright... More

Xian was the second stop on our 16 day Gate 1 tour. On arrival in the lobby I gasped at the sight of the huge warrior statues carved into the outside wall behind reception (totally amazing). The lobby was large and very ornately decorated. Check in went swiftly. Our twin room was clean and comfortable. The beds were on the... More

Location is not optimal. We wanted to bike on top of the city wall and were far from the entrances. Apparently, taxi service is spotty - the hotel could help us get a cab there, but no guarantees that we could get one back. We took the #12 bus, which was super hot and crowded (it was around 100 degrees... More

We also stayed only one night at this hotel as part of a tour. The room was adequate, if a little musty, but the bed was nice. Like another reviewer mentioned, the breakfast buffet was not as good as the other hotels in which we stayed, but was fine and had a good selection. We only did a little exploring... More

We only stayed one night at the Grand New World, Xian, as part of a tour. This may be the reason I don't remember much about it except the bath tub, which was nice and deep enough to soak in! The little tea/coffee set up was pleasant and the breakfast buffet had a nice selection. The room was clean and... More

We stayed one night during our trip to china and the rooms was big if a little dated but was clean and spacious. The dumpling and dynasty show was very good and well worth the evening even though we were tired from our trip to the terracotta warriors which is a must! Breakfast was good with variety and the beds... More

A world class hotel that delivered a few nights of a fine stay. Located a short distance from the Xian city walls, the hotel has a helpful staff and a fine restaurant on the premises. Quiet rooms and a good breakfast make the place a nice place to be. The incredible murals overlooking the Koi pond add a finetouch.

Was there with a Gate1 Travel Tour group. Very nice hotel. Buffet breakfast was not as good as other hotels we stayed in throughout China, but was still good. Room was comfortable, big enough for two, and very clean. No ice machine on the floor so had to request it. This seems to be the norm in China. Overall we... More

Lovely hotel, rooms very comfortable with kettle, fridge and bottled water supplied. There is a safe in the room. We had the shui jiao dumpling dinner and show at the hotel which was an interesting night with good food. The dumplings were lovely. The indoor pool was great and deserted but you need to wear a swimming cap so if... More
