June 2014, I stayed for one night at Zuoyouke. I travel a lot for work in China so this was a great surprise. It's a carbon lite/ Eco renovated factory, which has detailing and craftmanship throughout each spot often using recycled material, and little thoughtful local snack and beverages. It's a great place to wind down after busy traffic/ business... More

After spending a week in my typical Marriott this was a nice departure. Its a bit hard to find - even for my guide and off from the main area in Xi'an but given we had to drive around everywhere that wasnt a big deal. Clean room, great air-con (it was 94+), super shower though the rooms were small. Nice... More

Gorgeous hotel that blends classic and contemporary. I know some reviewers thought the location was inconvenient, but this is easily solved by taking the 604 bus from the main road which bring you to the Bell Tower in about 20 mins. Take the same one coming back and get off when you see the Shangri-La hotel. Costs just 1 RMB... More

We booked this hotel more for its atmosphere than its location and ended up being disappointed with both. Location wise we found it little too far out of the city to make it easy to get around (cab is the only option), and the area itself wasn't anything special. We also had the issue that the location given on Expedia... More

Excellent hotel for a couple retreat. The staff speaks english, very friendly. The rooms are so cosy, very comfortable, with everything you need (toiletry, tea, flat screen TV with HBO...). The place is quiet, and so clean ! The hotel will lend you bikes, you just have to give a deposit and off you go, it's very nice to visit... More

Although we weren't huge fans of xi'an (ripped off by taxi drivers and lots if rain didn't help). Zuoyouke is a lovely hotel. It is extremely stylish, with lots of interesting art and a very modern feel. The rooms were large and very funky, with interesting design features. The lack of air con was our only complaint. Staff were helpful... More

First, the good things - this is a really lovely hotel, a repurposed school on a quiet, leafy street. We stayed in a "fashion room" which is the cheapest but perfectly adequate - small, but very, very cute and very comfortable with a nice bathroom. It cost 700RMB a night - good value, we felt. There are exposed brick walls... More

We were really looking forward to our stay in this hotel, having read so many positive reviews. But after staying there two nights this May we can surely not recommend this hotel to the quality conscious travellers . We have booked the regular double room, but during the check in it turned out that the size of double bed was... More

Xi'An is not a beautiful city, too big and polluted. But if you come to visit the famous warriors, this little boutique like hotel is very charming and help you to rest. PS : We were disappointed by the Warriors, given it necessitates such a long trip.

My rating is not about the actual accommodation. It was comfortable, roomy and the staff were generally friendly and cooperative (Especially Joanna). The hotel is just too far away from the heart of the city, the area within the old wall. Generally if I stay in a city, I don't stay in the suburbs. A number of reviewers, who we... More
