We booked a lake view room. This meant we had a lovely view of the lake and all the activity there. The room was fine. Breakfast was fine - usual buffet style. However, the dinner was terrible. The location is excellent as you can walk out at night onto the lake paths and into the markets - really nice atmosphere... More

I thought an upgrade to a lake view with a balcony would be really nice for our last night in China but the balcony didn't have chairs, was in desperate need of a paint-job and the bench (seat?) had prickly plants on it which prevented us from really looking out. I guess it was nice to have access to the... More

Large hotel obviously catering for tours and large events. The hotel is in a good location and is attractive with good rooms and good amenities So why a poor review. Almost totally this is based on service. Good or bad service will make or break a hotel stay. From the initial poor reception we got when booking in we continued... More

Decent hotel at a good location and helpful staff and a decent restaurant. Breakfast was plentiful and far more than what is normally provided at US hotels- and way more than European hotels. Rooms were humid on entry and remained fairly humid despite the AC- something that needs to be improved. Overall good place to stay for tourists.

Beautiful location close to the lake, not far from the center. The entrance hall is nice, wifi ony worked there (but this is the case in many hotels). They speak good English at the reception. Rooms are a bit outdated but still ok, we had no problems.

Five star hotel owned by tour company that made all our arrangements, China Highlights (which earns high marks). Good location. Cavernous room. Bed bigger than most hotel rooms in Paris. Pretty good general amenities. As in some other places, Western breakfast (seemingly mandatory for Westerners) unhappily segregated from Chinese breakfast. Skimpy offerings, stale toast, aging fruit ... And just not... More

The location of this hotel is good. On the lake and within walking distance if most things. The room was comfortable and had everything needed. It also was high ip and had a good view. The carpet could have been cleaner. I don't think the room had been used for a while as it felt a bit humid and damp... More

We stayed here as part of our tour. Because I got sick upon our arrival, I stayed here for an extra day on my own while my tour group went ahead with the tour-boat ride to Yangshuo and then back to Guilin. As earlier reviewers stated, the hotel part is ok with good beds. Bathrooms are a little sad with... More

This hotel is in a great location right next to the water. There are restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, and one of our more memorable dinners in China was at a restaurant close to the hotel. We had one issue in this hotel in all three of our rooms...the AC. We were not able to get any of... More

We were booked into this hotel as part of an Emperor Tour, should have been for two nights but unfortunately we couldn't land in Guilin due to thunderstorms, got diverted to another airport and ended up arriving 26 hours late. So we arrived in Guilin at 2 in the afternoon, off to see the caves then checked into the hotel... More
