My wife and I spent 2 nights in the Shangri-La one en route to Yangshuo, one on the way back. Service and facilities were great, though being new there was still some work going on. If planning to spend some time in Guilin location may be a bit out of the centre but for us views over the river helped... More

We stayed at this hotel last minute due to a cancelled flight. The premises were very nice and beds comfortable. Then room service food was ok. Our visit was very short but we were pleased with the experience. Mr. Lee at the front desk was very helpful.

This was the 4th Shangri-La we stayed at during our 4 week tour of China. We arrived at reception in the evening after travelling for around 13 hours to find heightened security and a requirement for all bags, cases and ourselves to be routed through airport style detectors/x-ray equipment; maybe Shangri-La had anticipated our arrival and wished to ensure our... Room is very comfortable, spacious and clean, bed linen great quality, however, the shower head is floppy and keeps sliding down, would have preferred a rain shower head. The foyer is grand and the lounge is very relaxing. Beautiful furniture in the lounge area, we had a lovely coffee and the view out the large windows looking out to the... More

Other than as a base to start a cruise on the fabulous River Li, Guilin does not hold many charms other than the Reed Flute Cave. The Shangri-La is outside town but really who cares, there is not much in town. This is a nice property with good reception areas and imposing lobby. Our room was on the Horizon Floor... More

We got a deluxe room on the horizon club level. Our main concern was that our room smelled of mold. And though the staff was nice, the service was a bit off. For instance out waiter forgot two things we ordered, and the equipment for the tennis court was in very poor shape. The Shangri-la is a beautiful and impressive... More

We had a club room. The hotel is only 6 stories high but has a lovely pagoda style roof and is very sympathetic with its location on the banks of the Li River. The view from the club level (6) is beautiful - see attached photo of sunset over the river and mountains. Room was clean and the bed was... More

Our group stayed here one night before taking the river cruise. Gery early in the morning, we were delighted to walk over to the farmer's market which was held along the river. So very different from farmer's markets in the states - at least I have never seen open air butchering. :) We had no issues with the hotel.

Don't be fooled by pictures, we just recently stayed at this hotel. The rooms were 1 Star, the lobby a 4 star. We had confirmed a River View Room when we made our reservations, upon our arrival we got a tree view room, behind the trees was a river. To make matters worse, we had a reservation for a non-smoking... More
