First time at the Shangri-la. From previous reviews i read some bad but mostly positive reviews so I decided to give it a go. We came at the end of January, so not a high season for Guilin tourism. The hotel is out of the main attraction area. It took us about an hour to walk to get to the... More

ok let me start by saying that the pictures on Shangri-la website are a bit misleading. It is an amazing property but those pictures are just crazy special and you wont get that. The room i stay in was a suite and it was big and beautiful. I would highly recommend in fact i dont think i would stay anywhere... More

Cannot say anything bad about this hotel. I have not stayed in a 5 star hotel before, so i have nothing to compare it to. Rooms are massive and the view from the room is excellent. Staff are great especially the taxi boys, but some better English wouldn't go astray. Perhaps the location is not ideal, as you need to... More

Stayed here in 2011.Shangri La Guilin is probably the best option to stay there. I can't say this with certainty because you never know with China if you do not speak the language, but I roamed around the town and that's my guess. The hotel was as a five star property should be . I was lucky that I didn't... More

Luxurious hotel in a spectacular location overlooking the Li Jiang river with mountain back drop. Rooms were large and very comfortable with excellent amenities. Staff in club lounge were very helpful and welcoming. Food in hotel was of a reasonable standard. However we suggest you avoid the Christmas Eve buffet stampede it was chaotic and after being unable to find... More

We booked an advance purchase Horizon Club room. Now with these club rooms you expect certain extras for the money. These were spelled out in the book in our room at the Shangri-La Guilin: Check-in in the lounge, breakfast in the club lounge, lounge access morning to late at night, drinks (including alcohol) and canapes in the evening, BUT none... As far as Guilin goes, it supposedly 'sets the standards' but it does not live up to a Shangri la hotel. The buffet (dinner and lunch) were more like a Holiday Inn in terms of food quality and service. Basic, simple and very very busy. we checked into the executive level 6th floor and would recommend the lounge for breakfast... More

Stayed two nights in Shang and it was fantastic. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and well equipped with various range of tea and coffee. Had a fantastic room with river view to watch all the fireworks on New Year Eve countdown.

I booked Shangri-la in Guilin expecting a 5 Star experience in mainland China and what we got was far from it. First, the location is far from the city center, the lakes, the pagodas and the hotel is surrounded by a not so good neighborhood with no options for tourists. The rooms are large but bland. The buffet restaurant is... More

Exactly what you want, and expect off a Shangri La! We stayed for 4 nights to roll in 2015. Lovely rooms, great facilities, staff very helpful and both restaurants and bars ideal and decent value. No bad words, excellent.
