We had a club room. The hotel is only 6 stories high but has a lovely pagoda style roof and is very sympathetic with its location on the banks of the Li River. The view from the club level (6) is beautiful - see attached photo of sunset over the river and mountains. Room was clean and the bed was... More

Our group stayed here one night before taking the river cruise. Gery early in the morning, we were delighted to walk over to the farmer's market which was held along the river. So very different from farmer's markets in the states - at least I have never seen open air butchering. :) We had no issues with the hotel.

Don't be fooled by pictures, we just recently stayed at this hotel. The rooms were 1 Star, the lobby a 4 star. We had confirmed a River View Room when we made our reservations, upon our arrival we got a tree view room, behind the trees was a river. To make matters worse, we had a reservation for a non-smoking... More

I am a licensed travel agent, have stayed in many hotels and wish to relate my recent experience staying for three nights at the Shangri-La Hotel Guilin. We traveled with others and three rooms were booked. Our experiences were similar. I cannot understand how so many people have given this hotel a 5 star rating. However, no matter what I... More

Everything about this hotel is awful, I can't believe it is part of the Shangri la group. The rooms and public areas are filthy dirty. Everywhere smells of grease and cigarettes. The food in the main restaurant is very poor quality and no attempt is made at basic hygiene. Breakfast and dinner feels like canteen with service to match. Almost... More

My wife and I spent a night here before we did the Li River to Yangshuo.. Incredible hotel.. sleep.. food.. We paid the 63 USD for the club level.. That included breakfast.. Fresh fruit.. Lunch and you can almost make a dinner... Service is awesome.. and the best "over easy eggs" in China!! River view.. all drinks... WELL WORTH IT!!!

Just stay one night. Buffet breakfast and dinner are not bad. The location is not very good. You will need to have a cab to downtown. Not very convenient. Swimming pool is fine, a little bit crowded. The river views from our room is pretty good. Staff are helpful.

This is an older property but nice. Beautiful foyer to have cocktails with nice view of park and river. BreakFast buffet was ok, not as good as the other hotels we stayed in China. Olympic sized pool to swim in. Small workout room

I recently stayed one night at the Shangri-la with my two daughters, ages 6 and 11. The lobby is beautiful, check-in staff speaks good English, and our view of the river and mountains was nice (albeit tainted with some unattractive buildings in the foreground.) Room/bed was comfortable. My disappointment comes from: 1) the lack of universal power outlets in the... More

We stayed for six nights in a Club Horizon River Room. These rooms have beautiful views of the river and the characteristic karst mountains. Horizon rooms give access to the Horizon Club Lounge for breakfast, all day coffee, tea and soft drinks and evening cocktails with a buffet of small canapés and snacks. Especially when the hotel has a large... More
