This was my second stopover at Guangzhou during my recent trip to Hainan, courtesy of China Southern Airlines' arrangement for my long flight transit. This time, I made a much better hotel selection compared to the one during my first transit. As my family and I arrived at around 9:30 am, the hotel allowed us to have breakfast at their cafe (albeit a rather rushed one, as their breakfast session ends at 10:00 am). Despite this short time frame, we still managed to have a very satisfactory and wholesome breakfast due to the wide array of breakfast options available there. Now, over to the rooms. We were given two family rooms, each consisting of a king-sized bed plus another super-single bed on both ends of the room, with ample walkway in between. The bathroom was also spacious,

This hotel is quite good for the price per night. Room is large, clean and quiet. Breakfast is mainly with chinese dishes. Many cheap restaurants are closed to the hotel. Staff is not really kind, and don't really take care of customer requirement.

I had an 18-hour lay-over in Guangzhou on my way to New Zealand. Upon arrival, I applied for the 24-hour free transit visa to get out of the airport. As I was flying with China Southern, I took advantage of their free accommodation offer. I found it tricky to find the right counter at the airport to claim for my free night. It is located next to gate 20, one level below the main departure level. The China Southern person suggested the New Century Hotel and quickly arranged the room booking and the car transfer, which took about 30 minutes. The hotel is in the northern part of Guangzhou, far away from the center. There is a subway station just opposite the hotel, but I did not try to use the subway as I was mainly looking to have some rest in the hotel. The check-in was swift.

Honestly it was run down but not filthy. The breakfast spread was large. The hotel is also a 10 minutes walk from a pretty expansive pedestrian area. I won’t be staying again if I have a choice (stayed via China Southern)

This was 1 of the transfer hotels from a China Southern airline for transition or stopover. Don't remembered this hotel or its Liwan New Century? It appears to require a overall makeover! Basic worn down look. I chose it not knowing, BC our flight got canceled due to bad weather. On 1side of hotel appeared better than our complimentary stay side from China Southern airline. Then hotel put u up on the run downed side. So pick of luck to u if u get this situation. Food was so-so....they fed u but what was on breakfast they recycle for lunch & also served 1 other dish. Buffet style. Across we saw pipping steaming dim sum in another restaurant. Also from same establishmt. It looked like for the paying customer. My family & I would have paid to b there but they say we couldn't. Was

Stayed there many times starting from 2012. The location is good for my business, most suppliers are 5-10 km away only. Lots of good Japanese restaurants around, 7-11, massage parlor, fruit market, Guangzhou North Train Station, bus Huadu - Hong Kong station around the corner. But the hotel itself is very run down, rooms need repairs, only 2-3 floors have renovated rooms. There are no armchairs/benches in the lobby. Breakfast is 6/10. Do not choose the rooms facing KTV- you won't be able to sleep all night.

I had to stay in Guangzhou for a day for a connecting flight. China Southern Airline gave me a few hotels to choose from to stay for free and I randomly chose this one. A shuttle van came to pick up a group of us travelers around 6:00am. It was a pretty long ride to the hotel (about 30 minutes). The lobby was large and looked nice. The staff was courteous and showed me to my room. The room was pretty high up and had a nice view of the city and the hotel pool. The buffet had decent food and some watered down drinks but it was okay.

We were forced to choose a hotel from a list on a China Southern Airline layover in Guangzhou, and since this was the only one with a rating, four stars, we chose it. They have a nice big bus that picks you up from the airport to take you there, and when you walk in the lobby is absolutely stunning, but that's where it ends. Only some of the stuff speak English which I get, but the ones that didn't or only spoke it a little bit were very rude and not helpful at all. The rooms are dingy looking, even the hairdryer looks like it's from the 60s or 70s, there are stains on the carpet and the drapes, and the beds are so hard the floor would've been more comfortable. Also the entire place smells like cigarette smoke. We have been touring other parts of Asia and were used to using

It appears that not much effort or care is put into maintaining the hotels here. There isnt much good that I can say about this hotel. My husband and I are both non smokers, and were put into a smoking room. When we asked for our room to be changed to non smoking, They said all the rooms were smoking rooms. Because all of the rooms are carpeted , the smells and pollutents get trapped in the room. The room looks like it was cleaned at a superficial level and the carpets were really dirty. The beds were not too bad But My husband and I were provided with two small beds instead of one big bed. We asked again for help, But because we were coming from the airport on a layover, the staff did not want to help us. I woke up with a sore throat from the cigarette smoke and I did not sleep
