Admittedly looking a little out of place on the shores of Lake Baikal, the towering Hotel Mayak offers great views over Lake Baikal, especially from the 7th floor terrace; an excellent place to sit and watch the setting afternoon sun. Service was good, english spoken at reception, included buffet breakfast very good and the one meal I had in the... More

Look, it's a post-Soviet hotel. It's very Russian. The staff are fairly helpful. The rooms are small and clean. The beds are firm. The rooms in the front part of the hotel are better than those at the back. The breakfast is Russian hotel breakfast. You stay here if you are touring Lake Baikal, a wonderful thing to do. We... I stayed in this hotel for three nights as part of a side tour around Lake Baikal while traveling across Russia on the Trans Siberian Express. The hotel has two buildings. The big, bright shining one and then the one in the back. I stayed in the one in the back. The room was okay as was the bed. I... More

If you go to Baikal lake via Irkutsk - it is really the best choice in terms of location (close to boat station, bus station, Nerpinarium etc), but: - as if in front of the building there is a road & parking, bus station, excursions offices etc - it is very very very loudy & smelly during the day -... the hotel kayak is right in the middle of long-stretching listvyanka. it is quite a new building. we had a room in the rear house for 4000 rub per room and night. for the money you get: some lake view breakfast a quite small room no room service a new tv that does not work mostly english speaking receptionists that... I came here with my pregnant wife after travelling through Fiji, Hong Kong, Thailand, Siem Reap, Vietnam and China and was surprised at how disgraceful the service was, even after living in Rusdia gor the past 16 years. The photo on trip advisor IS NOT a photo of this hotel! We booked on booking.com and confirmation if wifi in all... More

Stayed here on a trip in August 2008. Pretty good - big corner room, clean and comfortable. Water and power were unfortunately a little intermittent. Service was not great, and the bars over the road needed to be avoided - evening entertainment seems to be having a brawl! But for a provincial Russian hotel it was safe, clean and orderly,... More

This is a nice hotel in Listvyanka at Lake Baikal with european standard. In partiocular having a dinner on the terrace on 6th floor and overviewing Lake Baikal is marvelllous!! Only the service could be a bit better, sometimes you have to wait a long time. Buit the view is worth it!

We didn't actually stay in this hotel, because it was too pricey. But during our visit to Baikal, we frequented the hotel restrooms, and Money machines. We also took the elevators up the veranda off the restaurant to take in the view! Gorgeous lobby and clean toilets.

We stayed one night in the hotel. Rooms were very small. in double rooms nearly no chance to walk along the bed. (see pictures on official website) They are even smaller than they look there. The rooms were very warm (at least 25-26 degree). The air conditioning could not be started, cause no remote control was available. Open window was... More
