I stayed for one night in June and had a wonderful time. I also booked a tour with Jack who owns the Hostel and two wonderful British travellers tagged along at the last minute. The hostel is out of the way of the main part of Listvyanka and will take a 15 minute walk there, but the peace and quiet... More

The Eco lodge is very good. Everything is there. Great location away from the crowd so it's very quiet. The quality of accommodation is great. It's a great place to explore baikal from. We booked a transfer with Jack from his other place in Irkutsk. Very handy and cheap.

The place is supercool but faraway from the main road so you either walk 10-20 mins and at night it's not that delightful or you take a cab. The girl was very friendly and I had a big room all for myself. The services (kitchen, bathroom) were spotless and functional.

We stayed in the dorm and had a very pleasant stay at the eco hostel. Nice, new and clean rooms in great atmosphere. (Very quiet) The view from the room was amazing and the бания was perfect! Owners are very nice and helpful :)________________

Been there last year in October, very good stay. The room was new and clean, hot shower and warm kitchen. The sauna is something you must not missed. (Russians have another name for it but I could not remember. Is it Banya?) The owner, Jack, is a person who you must meet. He is a Russian speaking perfect English. He... More

Took a wonderful trip with University students to Listvyanka. Aside from the fact that the village is way too touristy for my taste, we had a very nice couple of days there. We enjoyed being on Baikal, seeing the splendor that surrounds the deepest lake in the world. What I didn't expect was the bed bugs that were in my... More

Dear friend! The bed bugs is a serious problem, which has occurred to us recently. Let me sincerely apologise for that! As you can understand I did not bring them to my property - it has beed spreader by low budget tourists who do couch surfing or stay in cheap dirty places. I am really chocked with that too, as... Bedbuggs, leaking taps, unpolite staff. Do not enter! Sauna was ok, like real Finnish sauna. Location was quite ok. You can walk there from the LAST busstop. I really can not understand the water leaking to the floors...exspecially in wooden buildings. There's gonna be big problems soon...

I was really dissapointed. In Belka hostel the host was really rude and unhelpfull, and we felt really un-welcomed. In kitchen there was no fork or knives, and we did not bothered to ask, becaurse the host was already so rude. Taps was leaking and water was all over in toilet and bathroom floor, I'm afraight that in couple of... More

The wooden place looks fine, 15 min walk from the shore, but the staff was not friendly nor helpful. The dormitory is ok, but the door of the toilets was broken. There is only one shower. The kitchen is nice. We had a misunderstanding about the reservation and had to stay in the dorm instead of a bedroom. Things like... More

To those who are used to hostel spirit and are « eco » friendly : the place is like a fortress with electronic key for every door and lot of surveillance cameras. Exept the solar panels, it’s not much an « eco » place (for exemple, there is no separated trash bins). (for exemple, there is no separated trash bins).... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Baikaler Eco-Hostel welcomes you to stay in a cozy wooden house, located in the village Listvyanka. Built from wood, well insulated and energy efficient, the place is carefully imbedded into the environment. The eco-hostel maintains healthy atmosphere and sets new standards for comfort, security and design. We offer a wide range of activities. The house has 4 guest rooms with shared facilities: 3 twins and 1 dorm for 4 people. There are 2 toilets and 1 shower. Fully equipped kitchen is for common use. Each twin room has LCD TV and multimedia players. There is also a common library for guests. An English speaking staff is there to help. Another solar house has 1 dormitory room for 8 people + a single room. There are 3 toilets and 1 solar shower, fully equipped kitchen, common room with large screen + DVDs. There is also a wonderful Russian Banya (Sauna). Baikaler eco-hostel is located almost at the end of the street, near the forest. Don’t be turned off by the fact that it is ‘far’. It is just away from the mass tourism. The distance from the lake Baikal to the hostel is 1200m (25-30 min walk up and 20 min down). There is no view of the lake from the hostel windows (it has magnificent view of the forested hill though) ... more   less
