Staff who spoke good English were able to engage with us. Happy with the service. Explained that check in registrations are no longer required. Forgettable room, it wasn't bad but it must have been modest because I just don't remember it. What I do remember is, it has most of what you need, and the rest is nearby. ATMs downstairs.... More

During our trans-Siberian rail journey we spent an enjoyable two nights at the Hotel Irkutsk, a reasonably modern multi-storied hotel near the Angara River and in close proximity to the main historic and commercial district. We arrived very early at 7:30 am, yet the helpfull staff assisted by providing us with breakfast and an early check in. This service was... More

Some aspects of this hotel are very good, others average. We stayed 3 nights in a refurbished room overlooking the Angara river and the trains leaving Irkutsk station heading east. Our room was small but had a huge southwest-facing window which made it feel more spacious. The double bed was in fact 2 twins made up as a double and... More

Keep your expectations realistic and you should be fine with this hotel. I have stayed in a number of rooms and suites here and the most important is to make sure you are in a renovated room with a functioning ac if in the hotter summermonths. In principle if your own attitude is ok you will not find any unreasonable... More

Nights spent at this hotel: October 13-14 and 14-15, 2011. Being a non-smoker, I have been assigned a smoking room, without my knowledge or consent, where I had difficulties sleeping during my first night in the city of Irkutsk. Upon my inquiry at the administrator's desk next morning, I was informed that such room category as a non-smoking room does... More

Don't expect too much when staying in an average Russian hotel. This hotel is stil upgrading their rooms. But, there are a lot of rooms so it will take a while. Patience is important in Russia. I can't add anything to the previous ratings. Just some good advice. If you expect the same standard as in your homecountry then pay... More

My husband and I stayed here one night before and one night after a trip to the Bajkal sea so we got to experience two different rooms. The first room we got was relatively new and of decent size. The room looked like it was decorated in the 70s, but was nice and clean. The second room we got was... More

In 2001 I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights - one of the worst hotels I experienced at that time. The room had what appeared to be a straw mattress, the bathroom - well a cowshed would be luxury and the door security - there was not any. And in 2012 a very good transformation. A very comfortable bed,... More

The 3 star Irkutsk Hotel is the largest hotel in Irkutsk and is located in the city centre, with views across the Angara River and to the Railway Station on the opposite bank. The hotel has large, wide, high ceilinged corridors, large spacious rooms furnished in a very basic utilitarian style – in every way this hotel is so typical... More
