We booked this in order to try a real Russian homestay experience, so of course we didn't expect a luxury B&B. The house is placed very centrally in the city centre and less than 10 minutes by taxi to the train station. From reading previous reviews, I knew that Galina speaks German but not English. Therefore I was actually looking... More

We love this woman. The greatest pancakes (blini!) on earth from the warmest woman in Russia. As I've said on other reviews in Russia, for me it's more about the people you meet than the places you stay. Galina - Queen of Russia! Only gripe was a bit of a pong in our small room from the street or somewhere..... More

We loved everything about Galina's! The rooms are clean, light & airy. Great amenities. The best part though is Galina herself, very lovely woman who will go out of her way to help & make you comfortable. She cooks the best breakfast too! As much bliny as you can eat, homemade preserves & jams, cakes, dill cucumbers and of course... More

We stayed there in May 2014, as part of our Transsiberian trip. Galina is a nice host - she let us keep our lugagge there while we went on our trip to lake Baikal. The house is near Irkutsk center, although 1 km away from the railway station (you have nice transport by tram, tough). Very nice breakfast cooked by... More

Galina is the reason you come here! She is a very charismatic and caring lady. She doesn't speak English but will go out of her way to help you. Breakfast is homemade pancakes and is delicious. The only gripe is there is only one toilet and bathroom for everyone but it's manageable and not a large homestead. Galina is a... More

This was my hub for my stay in Irkutsk and I was happy with the experience. Though Galina doesn't speak much English (not many people do in this region, so brush up on your Russian!) she was more than helpful in getting me accommodated. The apartment we stayed in was pleasant and certainly good value. The living space was large,... More

We stayed with Galina for one night recently and the experience was great. Besides getting a cheap, clean, and nice room, Galina cooked a fantastic breakfast (included in the price of the room), registered our visas, organized a minibus to Olkhon island, and let us store our luggage while we explored. The location is perect, really close to the train... More

And to be fair we arrived at midnight off a long flight from Moscow. But Galina's redefines homestay - we slept in two small, hard, children's beds, with Russian Alphabet pictures on the walls, and the bathroom was full of the family's wet towels & half used shampoo bottles.. Didn't help that Galina speaks Russian & German but no English,... More
