Down the small side street off Karl Marks Str, but addressed as 13/B Karl Marks (sic) Str. which Chekov said reminded him of Paris, and which has now given Irkutsk the name of "The Paris of the East", which is a bit of an exaggeration, but the pre-Soviet architecture of the street does have a small resemblance. The Sayen International... More

Very comfortable and pleasant hotel in the centre of Irkutsk. As the hotel infrastructure in the area isn't great this hotel sticks out positively. Nice rooms, nice breakfast and good restaurant. Pleasant and helpful staff. I tried the Spa and that was an average experience. I would stay in the hotel again but I wouldn't use the spa again. Free... More

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at the International Hotel Sayen and had an unforgettable experience. We were visiting Irkutsk on our Trans Siberian Railway journey and after a several days on the train a restful splurge was in order. We chose Hotel Sayen based on reviews and were thoroughly impressed. Both the facilities and service at the Sayen... More

The hotel is top choice in Irkutsk, and probably the best hotel I stayed in Siberia. It's a Japanese style hotel with all features, including fantastically equipped room and especially the bathroom. This hotel could be well located in Kyoto (also the name of the hotels's Japanese restaurant which is also very good). I stayed in Courtyard Marriott before (not... More

Big rooms with all the necessary equipement. Great bed. Clean fresh bathroom. Well located. Helpful service. 2 good restaurants (one fusion-cuisine on the 7th top floor & japanise at the ground floor) - quite expensive for Irkutsk.

While traveling on the trains Siberia express from Vladivostok to Saint Petersburg, my son and I made irkutsk our "recharge" stop. Intending to stay 4 days to see lake baikal and also get some laundry done. First choice was the marriott court yard. But when I saw the web site of sayen, I decided why not try a local brand.... You are in Siberia and so far this is one of the best choices you can get. The hotel is very well located (Karl Marx street, 5 minutes walking to Kirov Square) and looks modern and neat. Rooms were fairly large for Russia and very modern in style. The bathroom was comfortable and well equipped. If you paid for breakfast... More

I often travel to Irkutsk for business - at first i used to stay in local soviet-type of hotel, with terrible service, no comfort and bad food! I discovered the Sayen Hotel, which became my priority hotel when staying in Irkustk. I will agree that it is a little expensive, but it is really comfortable with excellent service. I stayed... The Sayen is a great hotel, full of little details, with a great breakfast and excellent service. I found it however a too expensive for Russia -you can find this type of hotels for less money in NY or all accross Europe. We paid some 260 $ for one night.

As others have said this hotel is very much in the japanese style. It appears to be very much business oriented though there were several social events taking place at the hotel while we were there. We had an unfortunate maintenance issue essentially ruin what would have otherwise been a pleasant stay. One odd thing, we were required to fill... More
