Nice little hotel away from the hustle and bustle, but still in walking distance to the major sites and restaurants. Our room was a good size and very clean. The English speaking staff is very friendly and very helpful. They even made ice cubes for my husband when he asked. Good hot and cold breakfast everyday. We were there for... More

I booked this hotel for a group of 20 seniors during the recent economic forum week. Even my reservation clearly stated we will pay the hotel at time of checking out. The hotel kept asking prepayment: First, it said we need to do this because it was a week of white nights, and then after we purchased the visa support... More

Dear Owloctopus, thank you very much for your choice of Shelfort Hotel and for sharing your opinion about your stay! We are very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at our hotel. As for demanding prepayment, this was not our wish, this was just a rule of visa support company and we are truly sorry that it... More

I stayed in Hotel Shelfort for 2 nights in june 2015. The welcome at the reception was friendly and professional. I had a single room in the first floor (room 5), where also the reception is located. In this floor there are not many rooms and thus the noise level was low. However, I believe that in the second floor... More

The Shelfort Hotel is situated on a main island in the town, not far from the main attractions of St Petersburg. In fact it is a 5 minute walk to the number 24 bus which takes you directly to the Hermitage museum and, further, into Nevsky Prospect, the main shopping street. On the Vassilevsky island itself there are plenty of... More

I stayed at "Shelfort" for 3 days on a work-related trip to St Petersburg. My "single comfort" room was reasonably good. It's windows face inner yard, with very little noise from outside at all. Everything was clean. The breakfast offerings, though not particularly rich, were decent. I enjoyed pancakes the most. Location is good - about 6 minutes walk from... More

Nice and cozy place to stay. There is old Soviet-made piano with beautiful voice, just a little out of tune. Average breakfast to some taste, but quiet place with true fire place (in suites only). B+ mark.

If you have business in this part of town or want somewhere on the island to see the sights, then this is a good value hotel. Not a Hilton or Marriott but the room was suberb, breakfast was Russian, very, but good quality. As cost conscious business traveller I would stay there again. "Quaint" in another review is exactly what... More

Pros: Good location, tidy and spacious rooms, nice building, nicely decorated interior, welcoming staff, close to subway, plenty of parking space in front of the hotel. Cons: Rooms are not soundproof at all, you can hear pretty much everything what's going on in the neighbouring rooms and in the hallway. Second floor rooms are located either next to the entrance... Big rooms, clean, helpful staff. Breakfast was slim pickings but I'm not there for the breakfast. 4/5 would stay again. Close proximity to metro station, about 30 min walk into the city center. The hotel is on one of the citys many islands so if you go out at night be aware that the bridges open every night starting 01:30.... More

We haven't actually stayed at this hotel, yet. Our booking is for May, 2014. But I must compliment the staff and in particular, Olesya Labutina, for promptly responding to emails, arranging airport pickup, preparing a Visa Support Letter and answering my many questions. We look forward to staying at this hotel. The Tripadvisor reviews are amazing.
