stayed here with party of 25 sixth form students. Hotel total dump, dirty, unsafe and unpleasant. Full of other students and badly behaved teachers. Do not go here. more

Stayed here on a school trip to Russia, was a great trip, had a right laugh, but yes. I wouldn't choose to stay here again. The rooms were clean, I'll give them that but the furniture and decor was so old, and the shower did smell. Maybe its just russian water, but we managed ok in the end. Food wasn't... more

i have been to a lot of hotels in my time but i have never stayed in a worse hotel, the hot water does take a full 10 minutes to flow through and being from a town in Australia with level 5 water restrictions i feel utterly repulsed.good location is the only good aspect.russian people could sure use some lessons in... more

It didn’t help that I was half-way through reading “Koba the Dread” by Martin Amis when I and my travelling companion arrived at the Hotel Neva in St. Petersburg. I had been over-dosing on Stalinist horror and gulag gloom for at least two days prior to our ostentatious arrival by super-sized ferry. The over-bearing bureaucracy of just getting into Russia... more

The Hotel Neva was a revelation. You are never filled with confidence when a sign at the front desk greets you that you will have to run the hot water tap for ten minutes prior to your shower. The check in procedure (as with most admin in the East) is a complex combination of papers, stamps, computer entries and filing.... more

Spent a week in the Neva, in what must be the most unfriendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. The single room I had was very run down, a very small single bed, the furniture which must have been over thirty years old was falling apart, the curtains, almost impossible to reach would not close, and the bathroom was very... more

We went to the Neva at short notice during the White Nights when we couldn't get anything better. It's definitely the worst hotel we've stayed in in St P. Rooms are soviet-style awful - ancient decor, crumbling bathroom , curtains that don't close, TV onn the blink - clean but awful. Floor ladies on every floor, just like the old... more

We booked a trip to St. Petersburg which included hotel and sightseeing tour. Later, I read the Hotel Neva described as an old "Soviet Style" hotel, and now I know what that means. If you are looking for shabby rooms with threadbare carpets, peeling wallpaper, and thin curtains (no shades or shutters to block out the midnight sun); uncomfortable beds... more

NB: This visit was in 2002. This is a reasonably priced hotel, within walking distance of many of the city's attractions. The buffet breakfast provided was reasonable too, with items that ran out replenished quickly. However, the rooms are the worst I have ever seen. A constant stream of mosquitos entered the room through unclosable air vents. The ugly, verging... more
