The rooms are beautiful, the staff are lovely, the breakfast is the best ever - as is the view of St Isaac's - all in all it's a real treat.... Costs the earth but if you're here in God's chosen city you shouldn't care about that! Just enjoy your life..... more

My wife and I went to St Petersburg recently for her birthday and the gala night of the Diaghilev retrospective at the Alexandinsky. Stayed at the Astoria and had a fantastic time. Champagne, flowers and chocolates on my wife's birthday and a room overlooking St Issac's. Generally good service, especially from housekeeping. The hotel is a real treat particularly if... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at th Astoria, as have many great statesmen before us. It's an old world style establishment, with a comfortable coffee/bar area that looks out on St. Isaac's cathedral. Prices are steep there, but it's worth it at least once or twice. The room was quite big, with a vestibule and a very large (handicapped equipped)... more

For almost a thousand dollars a night I expected something more! The hotel was full of history, they will tell you all of these great famous people have stayed there, well that is great, but it didn't make my stay that much better. The rooms were small and I did not even have a curtain in the room to keep... more

If you like to stay in the local hotspot and enjoy people watching at a high level, this is the Nr. place in St. Petersburg. Interior shows some patina (but much less "run down" than the Grand Hotel Europe), however this positively ads to the aura and atmosphere of the hotel. Price tag of ca. €450 is only topped by... more

Location is excellent. Hotel is steeped in history. We had been advised to stay there by a relative who lived in Russia and told us that "if you will only make this trip once in a lifetime, then you have to stay at the Hotel Astoria". So we did. And for almost $1000 a night, we had an upgraded room... more

The Astoria is a nice hotel, with a competent, courteous staff. But, they have a pretty cavelier attitude toward honoring reservation quotes. We reserved with American Express, through the Fine Hotels and Resorts plan. That entitles us to breakfast, free internet and a food and beverage credit. Substantial amounts in a hotel where continental breakfast is about $40 a head.... more

I can't say enough about this hotel. First, I have to start by saying I am incredibly picky and easily disappointed by hotels. This is a beautiful gem of a hotel with a lot of character and so much history. It is not a glamorous mega hotel or a Ritz, but it is a charming establishment with charming rooms and... more

I stayed here for a Winter break, the hotel was fabulous, the breakfast had the biggest variety I've ever come across, I had my own hallway, bathroom and very large bedroom, the doormen opened the door of the car for me and escorted me into the lovely foyer where there was always a man playing the grand piano. The cocktail... more

Have stayed here often on business and have never been disappointed. The rooms are well-appointed although some can be small but asking for an upgrade as a frequent visitor is almost always fulfilled. If you fortunate enough to get bumped up to a presidential suite you really won't be disapppointed. The Davidov restaurant is pricey and not always worth it... more
