I can't say enough about this hotel. First, I have to start by saying I am incredibly picky and easily disappointed by hotels. This is a beautiful gem of a hotel with a lot of character and so much history. It is not a glamorous mega hotel or a Ritz, but it is a charming establishment with charming rooms and... more

I stayed here for a Winter break, the hotel was fabulous, the breakfast had the biggest variety I've ever come across, I had my own hallway, bathroom and very large bedroom, the doormen opened the door of the car for me and escorted me into the lovely foyer where there was always a man playing the grand piano. The cocktail... more

Have stayed here often on business and have never been disappointed. The rooms are well-appointed although some can be small but asking for an upgrade as a frequent visitor is almost always fulfilled. If you fortunate enough to get bumped up to a presidential suite you really won't be disapppointed. The Davidov restaurant is pricey and not always worth it... more

We have stayed at Rocco Forte in Berlin (same time of year) which was stunning and a true 5 star hotel, this one comes no where near. We were very disappointed that this was no more than a three star hotel with 5 star pricing. We know Russia is expensive but this was well over the odds. Rooms are average/small... more

Stayed here for 3 nights in July, 2008. Overall, I think this is a very nice hotel. It is well located and close to all the major sights. The public spaces are not that impressive, though I did like the bar. The rooms were quite nice with an eclectic decor combining a few old touches within a more modern look.... more

Great 5 star hotel for location, spaciousness of rooms and baths and great view of St. Isaac cathedral from several upgraded rooms while basic rooms have views of courtyard :(( Has a small spa and training facility with co-ed sauna and turkish bath and Astoria guests can also use the indoor splash pool at the internally connected Angleterre sister hotel.... more

The rooms are really tiny. It took us 4 room changes to finally get a room that three of us could fit into which is ridiculous considering how expensive the hotel is. It took the writer for Departures magazine three room changes so this must be the only way to receive an appropriate size room. The staff and service were... more

I understand that St Petersburg hotels are expensive, but at 590€/night I expected a whole lot more. I'm still at the hotel bar writing this, so the complete experience will be over after reaching the airport. ------------------------ Airport transfer (extra charge 3000 rub / ~100€ each way) Starting with the positives. The hotel cars are very nice S-class Mercedes. The... more

Like good hotels in Moscow this hotel isn’t cheap, (with Russia it seems everything is either very expensive and good, or very cheap and poor, there’s nothing in the middle!) but this is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in – I loved it. The service was second to none and my (standard) room was airy, bright, large... more

We spent the Easter weekend (4 nights) here and had a great time. Pay extra for a room which overlooks St Isaacs square as it was well worth the money. The hotel is very stylish and grand. Breakfast is included and served in a wonderful restaurant. Tea is served in the afternoon - not to be missed. There is a... more
