There is some progress to be noticed with the renovation work: they already had an elevator ínstalled but of course, it was not working yet. Ok, walk! The hotel is biiig with lengthy corridors. The athmosphere of an old Soviet hotel is still there. The room was tidy but quite small. When I entered my room it was hot as... More

Thank you very much for your review! Yes, the hotel is in the process of renovation, we have already completed the works in one side of the building and added a mansard floor - all rooms there are new and well-equipped. Soon the elevator will start working and other rooms and floors of the hotel will also be renovated. More

As a previous reviewer noticed, they are in the final stage of renovating the communal areas. It gives you the feeling to live in a construction site -- anyways this will be over soon and they will have an elevator. Our room was Soviet-like and smallish, but adequate and clean. And most importantly, the bed was comfortable. Located in the... More

The hotel is one of the old grand Russian hotels that have been painted over and left unattended for a while. They seem to be revitalizing it now. The breakfast was adequate. The staff were kind and helpful. A walk up. No elevator. Tough wrestling the baggage.

Had a lovely time in this hotel, the hotel staff speak some english and were very helpful with everything we asked them. It is very well located, in the middle of town, few blocks from the train station, few blocks from the lake, and with plenty of restaurants nearby. The beds are amazing and they have really good curtains which... More

The room was quite big, but there was no AC in it. So it was too hot to sleep at night. The location of the hotel is quite good - it is situated between railway station and lakeside walk. 15 minutes to each. Also, opposit of the hotel there is a perfect restaurant Karelskaya Gornica with many local specialties, including... More

The only advantages were that we booked the hotel easily via internet + a good destination. That's all. Rooms are so soviet (considered to be after the renovation)! Breakfasts were also soviet with a try to be modern... but we could see the sad waiters' eyes full of boredom. The ground floor is totally smoked. Actually the difference in price... More

Pros: - Walk-in price, around USD 50. - Lots of restuarants nearby. - 10 mins walk from train station, 30 mins walk from pier. Cons: - No free Wi-fi, paid RUB250 (or RUB150, i forgot) for a Wi-fi card, the signal was weak and slow. Paying for coffee and enjoying quick wifi in opposite cafe would be better. - Extra... More

this place belongs to the most international hotel in Petrozavodsk. Many agencies send their tourists there. The terrace looks really comfortable, but the beer is not cold and the food is not good so don't go there. You can get much better in Petrozavodsk.

We stayed at Severnaya Hotel for two nights during our trip to Karelia. Initially I was expecting a typically old and Soviet era hotel with faded wall papers and well used and unrenovated room. I will get to that in a moment. It is a Soviet-era hotel indeed, but not a bad one. There's plenty of parking spaces on the... More
