We stayed one night in a Suite (номер Люкс). It had a separate bedroom and was spacious, convenient and decorated with taste. Everything functioned well. The only thing we could complain about was the absence of bidet. Breakfast and dinner were also quite good. Personnel was friendly and helpful.

This is remarkable: A very noisy place, small rooms with almost no comfort (oh, there was a piece of soap in the shower), old bed, an incredible breakfast soviet style and a staff who preserved the traditional bolshevik idea of service - I remember my first trip to Moscow in 1974 or so, when I stayed in a hostel ,... I remember that I stayed at Sadko (one of the heroes of Russian fairytales) hotel in Velikiy Novgorod (in translation Great NewTown). It's a provincial town with great historical centre with amazing museum and Cathedral. I was in April for a very good theatre festival "King tale". Well, Sadko is a typical Soviet time hotel, which was a bit renovated,... More

Staff at reception do the basics. Can't complain about them but certainly wouldn't praise them. Rooms are ok in size. Beds comfortable but rooms probably need a renovation. Bathroom is clean but showers need help urgently. Warm water at best and shower holder doesn't even hold the shower head so stuck hanging it over tge taps.

While the rooms were adequate the service at reception was dismal. A non-English speaking female staff member completely ignored me and walked away from the desk as she continued her private phone conversation. Very unprofessional. Customer service is still a unknown concept in many Russian tourist enterprises.

I have booked a room with additional bed in advance and confirmed that once again by phone few hour before arrival. Yet upon arrival there was no additional bed in a room. Being asked about that hotel's staff managed to deliver to our room some terrible beggar's trash from under a bridge. It took about 40 minutes. Being asked for... More

Stayed at this hotel as part of an organised tour so cannot comment on the value for money side, but the rooms were clean and reasonable size. Reception staff did not speak much English, luckily we had our Russian speaking tour leader otherwise this would have been a bit challenging. Location is great, walking distance to the main attractions.

this hotel is close to the old medieval 'kremlin' fort in this old town which, despite its long history, is hidden in soviet era appartmant blocks. the hotel is good, clean and efficient - but don't expect west european frills. The food is staple russian fare ( I'm here as part of a conference so maybe the food we get... More

This is a perfectly adequate hotel for a couple of days. It is clean and staff were friendly (although I was happy I speak Russian as some do not speak fluent English). It is reasonably close to the Kremlin and there are supermarkets nearby. Most people visit Novgorod for only a day or so and this hotel is, in my... More

You visit Novgorod for one reason and that is to visit the Kremlin - its a one night stay sort of town so you want, good value, a clean & comfy room , friendly staff, reasonable food and accessible to the sight that you have come to see. The Sadko Hotel has all these. Most people will either arrive overnight... More
