A large hotel for what we thought was a small country town which turned into being a large town instead. Arriving by bus trip from St Petersburg, taxi from the bus depot is only a short trip. The Volkov is located in a good part of town, opposite Administration buildings and behind that, The Kremlin. Plenty of inexpensive restaurants and... More

We stayed at the Volkhov for three days in early October and found it to be perfectly reasonable. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the location is excellent. The hotel is located directly between the train station and the Kremlin (no more than a ten minute walk to either). There are also several restaurants very close to... More

Hotel is well located between the train station and the kremlin so it is convenient for travellers. I had a single room near the end of the hall nearest to the busy road, which was noisy even late at night. Hotel service is good. Front desk staff speak English, there is a place to leave luggage and althogh there is... More

A very small antique hotel in the center of the city, walkable to most local attractions, supermarket and shops. The staff there were nice and helpful but couldn’t speak much English. The exterior of the hotel was very classy and beautiful, but the room was very amll, aged and basic. I got a room facing the sun which was very... More

Nice, clean hotel. Staff are friendly and speak good English. The hotel restaurant offers good traditional Russian cuisine and they are not expensive at all. The only downside is that the rooms are not equipped with air conditioner, and during the summer time the room could get quite hot. You don't want to open up the window because the mosquitos... This is an interesting charming hotel within walking distance to the main historicial sites of Veliky Novgorod. The hotel was actually built in the 1950's as a "state hotel", but it does not seem to be of the old Soviet architecture. The hotel has a beautlful lobby and wi-fi is available for 150 rubles per hour (about $5 USD). There... More

Good value for money for Russia, clean and smart hotel, plenty to choose from at Breakfast, easy to find, close to the autobus & railway stations, even closer to the main tourist sites, of a very nice laid back town, fairly quite mid-week

Good price and location. Hotel interior and facilities are a little outdated but our stay was still comfortable. Breakfast was good in a very nice dining room. Staff we very friendly and helpful. Short walk to both the Kremlin and train station. Wireless internet was adequate in non peak periods but became unuseable in the evenings when lots of people... More

I found this hotel to be very nice indeed. The room was clean and warm and the bed was very comfortable. I also liked the breakfast they serve: it's actually a self-service area where you can help yourself to as many dishes as you wish, all of them being tasty and worthwhile. The only negative side was perhaps the paperwork... More

There are some disadvantages of this hotel: the hotel room is small and, yes, very rough and thin roll of toilet paper, taste of breakfast is quite below standard. But I still think it is a good bargain with this price. The room is clean, location is great (10 mins walk to Kremlin / train station). Try to avoid their... More
