I stayed at this hostel with a large group (we reserved a whole dorm) and had a positive experience. The location was great (though as everyone says, hard to find) - really close to a metro station, and walking distance to many of the big sights. The staff were friendly, the facilities basic but generally clean (not that many bathrooms/showers,... More

Stayed in this hostel over New Year with some friends and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I know everyone has said it before, but it is difficult to find as you need to find the correct courtyard and then walk across it to find the tiny "Comrade Hostel" sign - but after you find it once, you should not have difficulty. It... More

The directions the hostel provided were good enough and it's a short walk from the Kitay-Gorod stop on the metro, although it took a while to spot the A4 sheet on the door to know I was in the right place. It's a bit ominous when you go through the front door but after a couple of flights of stairs,... More

Fab location, just a short walk from Red Square. As with all russian youth hostels, pay careful attention to the directions as it's poorly signed. Also be prepared to climb 2 flights of crumbling stairs to the hostel, which would be awkward with a suitcase. Hostel itself is fab. Clean, spacious, good facilities. 5 bathrooms, decent kitchen, good wifi, free... More

Hard to find hostel, because the sign on the door (that stays in a quiet courtyard) is an A4 sheet. Forget it if you plan on arriving late! Even on daylight, bring hostel directions with you, otherwise you'll miss it, because neighbors don't even know this hostel! Great location - landmarks are within walking distance, metro is 2minutes away, and... More

Location, location and again - location - Red Square is just 5 minutes walk and all the other famous attractions like Tretyakov Gallery, Pushkin museum, Tverskaya street in 1-2 station by metro. The area is full of bars, restaurants and night clubs. The staff is helpful and friendly, all the necessary services are there - registrations, domestic tickets booking, free... More

Seems as tho upon arrival staff was more interested in smoking in the stairwell than working(even tho there are signs around saying you have to go outside to smoke!) Get the vibe that there are mostly Russian live ins at hostel, had one approach our friend for money! Food missing out of communal fridge regularly. We had a private room... More

Hostel has many locals living in it. So food and drinks regularly disappear from the fridge. We were asked by a resident to give him some money. 4 showers but only 3 working. And there was no locking the dorm rooms. The moment you lock the door someone will come through and open the door. So no real security for... More

Lets be honest, when you first arrive at the hostel, it doesn't look great. It is situated in a rather unappealing courtyard and when you go through the door, you are met by a scruffy entrance area, with old tin, buckets and bits of wood, which make it look like workmen have left their tools lying around. However, when you... More
