If you like an hotel with a lot of stalinesque architecture, high ceilings, large rooms and creaking parquet floors, this is the Place. Very good service. Breakfast with live piano or harp music. Not in the center but about 400 meters to the nearest metro and then 8 minutes (4 stations) to Red Square and Bolshoi Theatre. Wifi quite poor... More

My husband and I visited Moscow for the first time a couple of weeks ago and stayed at this lovely hotel. It was very easy to get to from the airport travelling on the metro, which cost us approx £10 instead of the expensive taxi fare, the hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the station. When we arrived... More

My first visit to Moscow, pleased to stay in this historical hotel. Nice and big comfortable rooms, nice breakfast. Very few shops are nearby and metro station is almost 20 minutes away. Problem that few peoples in the street can speak English, so you will have a lot of challenges with their Russian metro map. But reception staff are helpful.... More

Found this Hotel in 2000 and have stayed many times. I chose this hotel to propose to my wife and if you are looking for History and old elegance, this is the place. They have just plain rooms and fantastic suites. I have rented about all. The suite has a large entry with closets to the right and left of... More

Soviet-era Historical hotel is good for two or three nights. Location wise it's good if you are travelling by Taxi or Local bus. Metro station is 10 minutes walking distance. But I advice you not to walk in winter as it's too cold. Room size is too big. Bathroom also clean and nice. Hot water is available. Front desk staff... More

The Hotel Sovietsky is an unreconstructed Soviet-era hotel that has made a virtue of the necessity that it hasn't been renovated since being built in 1951. Frankly, it's a lot of fun. The rooms are enormous (and reasonably comfortable) and though the breakfast is of mediocre quality it is accompanied by live piano or harp playing (they had a pianist... More

You have the choice of going to a good hotel in Moscow, yet this one brings back the old Soviet feel. Rooms and the hotel reception are decorated in this way. Fascinating woodwork and staircase. Ignore the old rooms and experience the Soviet charm!

Anyone can stay at one of the newer cookie cutter hotels, but this old hotel takes you right back to Soviet times. The woodwork is beautiful, fantastic grand staircase. Sure the rooms are old, but this place has plenty of old school charm. Red Square is a healthy walk but very doable. Stay her at least one night.

It was awhile ago when we visited this hotel. The experience going to it was not great as we got ripped off by the taxi driver, but once here it was an eye opener. The front desk was friendly and we had no problems checking in and getting the room. The first thing you notice about this hotel is how... More

This is one of the hotels in Moscow I have stayed at occasionally over the last ten years of business trips. At the beginning you put up with the antiquated rooms because service was good and breakfast was good. But now the service and breakfast have fallen off a cliff. Location in no way lends any favours. A shame. Does... More
