This is my second trip to Moscow in a span of 2 years. I stayed at the Metropol for a week in September as part of an official institutional group's visit to Moscow. There were more than a hundred of us in the entourage. We must have taken up at least 50% of their hotel occupancy for the week. With... more

The atmosphere is classic, timeless, subtle luxury. Sauna in basement is as good as any hotel (sauna at Bristol in Warsaw is a comparison). This is a real Russian hotel. You can feel the shadows of Lenin, Trotsky, rich art collectors, etc going to meetings, dinners, etc. Service -- in the context of the puzzle that is all things Russian... more

I liked the Metropol. First thing you have to do is remember that you are in Moscow, not NYC, or Paris. The Metropol is an old classic Moscow hotel that has been upgraded and continues to try and improve. For example one of the biggest complaints I read here before going was lack of high speed internet in rooms. I... more

We stayed here for five days in May. Although the location is superb the hotel is not worth the cost. We got a room withouth air conditioning, which is just not acceptable for a hotel at this price level. Furthermore breakfast and internet access is not included in the price. The rooms were just average when it comes to comfort.... more

Location was unbeatable. Rooms were big and comfortble. No internet in rooms and had to hang out in lobby to use internet at $$$$for 24hrs. No coffee to go in the morning or croissant. Choices were $30 buffet breakfast or nothing until noon. We were working so that was not an option. No place nearby to get coffee early in... more

I spent one night here on a stopover in Moscow. My room was average size but with a high ceiling and very comfortable furnishings. Bathroom small but perfectly functional. Large in room safe was a welcome feature in Moscow, with plenty of room for a laptop and other expensive gadgets. I must say I didn't like the pillows though, far... more

The Metropol has its flaws....non-smokers should be prepared to encounter smokers just about everywhere and the bathroom was a bit dark and cramped, but overall, it's a great place to stay. Yes, it's pricey, but hotels in the center of any major city are. As a single female, I felt very safe and the hotel's great location made it easy... more

This hotel is located in a wonderful location within walking distance of Red Square and the Kremlin. From this location the Puskin theatre is also a short walk away. However the hotel is extremely expensive for both food and lodging. The price of a small pot of coffee is $16.00. The cheapest breakfast at the hotel is $40.00. There are... more
