This hostel is just totally CRAPY and UNRELIABLE. We booked a room for four nights and when we arrived, there was no vacancy. We had to sleep on the corridor/sofa for our first night. Staff and manager were totally unconcerned and uncooperative. Housekeeping is more than doubtful. We had an intermediate stay in St Petersburg and had re-booked at Monroe... More

In terms of location, you can't beat this hostel. It is ten minutes walk from Red Square. However, when we were shown to our room, my heart sank. We had to walk through a warren of corridors. On one of the corridors were some sinks and it was a bathing area. That meant you had to walk past people washing... More

The location of the hostel is really excellent. In a few minutes you can reach the Kremel and the Red Square. There is also a Metro Station near by the hostel. Our room was small but clean. The staff is friendly and english-speaking. Downstairs you can use a kitchen for cooking, breakfast, etc.

This hostel was really dirty and not welcoming but you cannot expect something wonderful for the price you pay! The showers were small, sometimes with cold water. The toilets were dirty and not really intimate for a girl. However, the location was perfect: 5-10min walking from the Red Square, 5min away from a metro station... Good coffee shops and restaurants... More

We stayed in a double room with WC inside. We didn't expect more from a 0-star hostel and got what was promised. PRO:1) located on a quiet alleyway 4 blocks from Kremlin, just next door to Courtyard Marriott, which is about 300-400USD per night; 2) room is warm at winter, small ventilated window can be opened for fresh air, and... In Monro I was a week and I have a good experience. Hostel was cleaned every day, showers and toilets were clean, on the reception they speak English and they were helpful. I recommend this hostel especially for tourists who want to be near the center.

I stayed there for 4 nights because of its cheap price and good location. However, it is not like what they advertise on the website. They said there are lockers in dorm but there is none of them. There are some poos structured lockers in living room but one key can be used to open all other lockers.. amazing. There... More

We had book in this hostel 1 room with a double bed shared bathroom for 2 nights in this hostel in August 2010. We arrived very early in the afternoon (at 1 pm). The gay said there were no more room for us in the location next to the Kremlin (we had booked the room several weeks before!) and proposed... More

We stayed in Monroe Hostel for 2nights. The location is great, very near from Kremlin, but apart from that everything was poor: rooms are very narrow, you cannot fit two suitcases next to each other between beds; the kitchen was too small for the number of guests we were, only 5chairs, a small table, poor cutterly (no knives, barely no...
