If you need to stay in the red square district, the location is great with a 5 minutes walk to the Bolshoi, metro station or Hyatt and Marriot Aurora hotels. The concept is more artist than boutique hotel, the service is minimum like a poor prisoner breakfasr served in your room with an american cafe, one and only one piece... More

From all the hotels and hostel I have been in different countries and cities, this is the only one I have to leave earlier and look for another place to finish my stay in the city. 1. There is a 24 hour discoteque/pub in the second floor (the hostel is in the third floor). Music really sound in the rooms,... More

Lonely Planet and Tripadvisors disagreed on this one, but LP has never steered me wrong. Honestly, it's a pretty good place if you just go in with the right expectations. It's not a high end boutique - more like a cool hostel with private rooms. The breakfast is fine, not sure what y'all are on about. The wifi is strong,... More

The title says it all. To start with, we couldn't find the place, our Russian coach driver was at his wits ends having driven around the same block for 2 hours. Our room had no windows, so it felt like a prison cell, there was a musty smell about the place and the receptionist was extremely rude. The 2 nights... More

The reviews don't really prepare you -- it is as hippy, as cool and off beat as they say.. But it is even louder than one might ever come to expect. Our room literally shook with each bass beat from the disco below. We were soo tired that we fell right to sleep. We also had our Bose noise reduction... More

If you are hipp and cool and most of all unpretentious (as me)) you will find it ok to stay there for a while. The location is awesome. The rooms are beautifully decorated (not the cheap ones). I found the breakfast quite satisfying not to starve until lunchtime (I usually chose cereal with milk, cheese toast and tea). You have... More

The bert thing about Artel is its location: only 5 minutes from the wonderful Red Square, 2 minutes from the great Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. In the one hand, the place has a nice decoration, with cool wall paintings and modern artistical expressions in all rooms. On the other hand, breakfast is very poor, the rooms could be better maintained, and... More

This place is not even to be considered a hotel. Location although very near the Bolshoi and Kremlin, is difficult to locate. The room I stayed in was very small, no windows, not enough ventilation and only a small fan in the sweltering heat of summer, you can imagine it was not comfortable at all. No shower curtain in the... More

Booked this as it was a "top choice" in Lonely Planet. Their review did warn that there was a club below and so it may at times be noisy. The reality is the club below goes on well past 4am and the bass meant that the furniture in my room shook. Then there's the other club a further floor below... More

This hotal is crap, they messed up the card payment (no chip and pin) and over a month after I returned home they are taking money off my card wothout my permission. The staff are unfriendly and the breakfast is vile. The room was tiny with no aircon very stuffy. I would be very careful if paying with a card.
