I was in Moscow for only 2 nights to do some business, and found this hotel to be clean and comfortable (if a little dour), good value for the money, and very well situated to the main Leningradsky train station. Pay NO ATTENTION to the taxi drivers outside the train station who will typically quote you 1,000 rubles ($35) to... More

Receptionist offered to pay at a higher price than than the real price of my booking. Also check-in earlier than 14h is only surcharge. Disgusting rooms. Smells everywhere. Rooms are small and the whole hotel is very narrow. Old windows, not enough space in double room, looks like single actually. Personal from soviet era. Close to center but it's impossible... More

Advantages: very good location (close not only to the underground but also to Red Square and 3 railway stations), small quite and calm street, well-equiped rooms (water, bathrobe, footwear brush, even sewing kit), diversified breakfast. Disadvantages: very expensive even for this location, single room was tiny. Total: not bad but consider pricing before booking.

The only good point for this hotel is its location. As for the bad points: - INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE for this hardly-3 star hotel; - outdated rooms; - poor service (no complimentary tea, very bad shampoo, rude personnel, also nobody speaks English there); - No air-conditioner; - poor breakfast Unfortunately, they make money just for the fact that they are located... I stayed here in September during a business trip. The hotel was a quick walk to the office. That is where the high marks end. As other reviewers have noted, none of the staff speak English. With limited Russian language skills, I was able to communicate with front desk and restaurant staff through gestures. One woman at the front desk... More

Hotel has a good location, but no wi-fi in the rooms. Single room is wery small. I was allways cold at the begining of heating seasonat. Breakfast is boaring. But still exceptable for the price concerning location.

This hotel is trying very hard to be a cool, classy business hotel, but falls short. There is no wireless internet except in the lobby and restaurant, and even there it was unacceptably slow and hard to get a link to. The English language ability of the staff is mostly poor. The bar is dead at night and often simply... More

The Ulansaya was a nice surprise for us, considering that it's not mentioned in the tourist books. It is in the city center - though not in the heart of it - and is only 5-10 minutes away from the nearest metro stop. We strolled up the main avenue from the hotel and in 25 minutes or less we were... More

As a Moscow virgin, I had no idea what awaited me. I need not have worried as the city is very nice. The Ulanskaya is situated in a quiet backstreet, 100 yds from the Metro and only a 30min walk from Red Square. The hotel blurb says 20mins and it probably would be if you knew where you were going.... More
