If you'd like to have a soviet experience, stay at this hotel. It's a very big building plenty of rooms. There are some rooms that were updated and look better. We stayed here just for one night. Our room was very big with a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a balcony. All decorated as in soviet times. The... More

This is an old style hotel with small, cheap and nasty rooms. Plenty of smoke smell for a "non-smoking" hotel. Service lazy and incompetent. Food dreadful. What's to like? Nothing. Oh! I forgot to mention the tunnel under the road where the drug dealers hang out.

Hello, My husband and I stayed there with a group of friends on a mission. We enjoyed that the Volga Hotel was within walking distance of many restaurants and great sights. The rooms were adequate in size and ours was clean. The view was tremendous! We arrived in the evening after a long day of traveling and the view was the... More

Main advantage of this hotel is Volga river view from top rooms. It's unforgettable. Location of this hotel is nice. Staff is friendly and helpfull. Breakfast is fine, reach and tasty. Rooms are big, but many of them haven't been renovated for many years. Price is reasonable.

I would call this a typical "Soviet" style hotel. A big building from the 1970s. Rooms that are so basic that they reminded me of my days in the university dorms/halls of residence (did you ever visit a UK hall of residence? Well, the experience is similar). The smell in the bathroom was not ok. You do not want to... More

I was a guest at the Volga in 2005 and 2008. In 2005, the experience was average. This had been my first time to Russia and I wasn't sure what to expect. The Volga was comfortable and clean. It must have gone through some major renovations! In 2008, the rooms were updated a bit, but the big difference was the... More

I stayed at the Hotel Volga for five nights in August. According to my local friend, if you are looking for a hotel with the best location, you want to stay at the Volga. The architecture of the building leaves something to be desired but the service was outstanding. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection of items and the... More

My mother and I stayed here for one night in September 2006. We were not able to choose the hotel, as it was an Intourist package tour. The hotel is a dilapidated building which is having its balconies redone as they look very unsafe and are full of cracks. The mattresses are crying out for retirement, lumpy and uneven. The... More

I have stayed at this hotel at least ten times over the years and it keeps getting better. Now of course you must remember where you are, so the rating I gave is with this in mind. This is a RUSSIAN hotel in the middle of RUSSIA so do not expect it to be anything like Moscow or St. Petes(or... More
