The hotel rooms were just ok, TV remote never worked and room was very basic. The service was the worst I have ever seen. I have traveled many places and I found the staff at this hotel to be rather stuffy. I will say some of the service people were very helpful but the front desk..... those people need to... more

My parents and I stayed at the Royal Mandaya for a week while in Davao. The hotel was okay...a little old, but the service made our stay absolutely amazing! We had breakfast downstairs every day, and everyone who worked there knew us by name. They were more than helpful when we had any question or needed suggestions about what to... more

This is my second visit to the most peaceful city in the Philippines, Davao, I stayed at Marco Polo in my last visit, this time I wanted to try another hotel, so I chosed Royal Mandaya and that's the most stupid decision I made in the Philippines! Bad things 1. Check in process is very late and staffs looked as... more

For its rate, the Lobby has served its puropose. It's nicely done. Unfortunately, the staff were not that friendly, they were accomodating so many guests at the time of my check-in. Could this be the reason of their unfriendliness, I am not that sure. They were very pre-occupied with so many papers, vouchers, receipts and whatsoever. There were times when... more

Royal Mandaya has a decent lobby upon entrance. The staff are quite friendly. The complimentary breakfast is ok.The rooms are decent size but are pretty dark and old looking. It's definitely not a modern style hotel. Overall, you're not staying at a luxurious resort or a 4 star hotel (basing it on US standards). It's a hotel that gets the... more

I had the unfortunate experience of having stayed at the Royal Mandaya twice in three weeks. I had no choice but to comply since it was management's mandate to use the said hotel. It was great to have complimentary airport pick-up especially in such a large city like Davao. It was made more pleasant given the size of the mini-bus... more

When I visited Davao last June 2006, I had the misfortune of booking my mom and my brother to the Royal Mandaya Hotel since it is a little bit cheaper than the Marco Polo (where I stayed since I am on a business trip). The hotel is impressive from the outside. The lobby is also beautiful. Staff are polite and... more

Looks grand from the outside, and the lobby is typically impressive. But the room was grotty with a carpet covered in stains and dirt marks looking like it had never been cleaned. The phone did n't work and there were no in-room literatures or service menu. And the room service when it was requested was slow, unresponsive and sometimes non... more

I didn't have any idea about this hotel before going there, a friend of mine has done the booking so I was a lil bit embarrassed if I am going to like it. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see that it's a very good hotel with a very friendly staff! We experienced some problems with the elevator (they... more

I just have to say that this hotel was the greatest suprise of our recent 4 week SE Asia trip. The excellent service started when we were collected at the Davao airport. The room was spotless, great food, pleasant staff and for 2000peso (US$40) also tremondous value. (Breakfast included!!!) As travelling Aussies we will make the Mandaya a priority for... more
