The hotel is very central, one block from the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Quality of rooms can vary - I had a room with a window with a view on the Cathedral towers while my parents had a room with a window on the interior corridor. From their bathroom you could easily hear noises from the room next... More

Worst stay ever. Very cold. Nothing worked (hot water, hair dryer...). We had only one window...to the corridor. The whole night was light out there, although we went three times out to turn it off. There was also a couch in front of our "window". So it was not only bright outside but also loud all night long. The breakfast... More

Hotel Balsa Inn has it's own natural style within a city full of concrete. The use of wood and several earth colored ceramic figurines of fantasy houses and gnomes, very original. The hotel is close to the main square of Puno, but there is no busy traffic in front of the hotel. The rooms were clean, the staff was very... More

We just had a 2 day stay at the Hotel Balsa and came away very impressed. The streetscape gives no clues to the quality of the hotel (as seems typical in Peru) The room was well appointed. Our's faced the street, but we weren't disturbed by any road noise. The staff were outstanding. With good advice on finding the eateries... More

For a 3 stars hotel (fully deserved) the price was really good. The room was excellent and the staff very helpful (they let us store our luggages overnight while on excursion on the Titicaca lake). The location is ideal, 2 blocks from Calle Lima (main street). The breakfast was one of the best we had in Peru. Highly recommend!

We stayed here one night and were given a lovely room, with a comfortable bed, working tv and clean bathroom. The shower had plenty of hot water but took ages to come through ...10 minutes, ...wasteful, this should be fixed. Breakfast was plentiful and varied ... Meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals, juice, coffee, tea, etc. The hotel is way from the... More

We stayed here as part of a tour. The rooms were small but were clean and warm, with great bedding and wonderfully hot showers. There may have been some questionable smells around but it was still definitely my most comfortable hotel in Peru.

We stayed here as part of our tour with Tucan. We stayed one night before we went to lake titicaca and one night after. The room smelt like sewerage and on the second night, we found a used tampon and a whole bunch of hair in the toilet bowl - despite there being a sign on top of the toilet... More

Stayed at this hotel as part of a tour. After 2 weeks of staying in hotels all over Peru, this was the closest to the feel of an American hotel. The showers and bathtubs provided hot water, with great pressure, all day. The rooms had space heaters but they weren't really needed because the bedding was incredibly warm - it... More

Wonderful staff willing to do anything. A most pleasant two day stay. We chose a room with windows rather than an interior room. We needed parking and one of the staff went with us to find the park which was off site. Staff also organized a Lake Titicaca adventure. Nothing was a problem for them.
