3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2008

We stayed here for 2 nights and were disappointed. It is classed as a 5 star hotel but it isn't in that class at all but I would say its a 3 to 4 star. The food is mediocre. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The walls are thin and the bathroom walls are very very thin so you can... More

The hotel is right on Lake Titicaca, but not near anything else. We were too timid I guess to get ourselves anywhere else on our own in our limited time. The food was good. Laundry availability was nice, though I had to get them to search for my socks which weren't initially returned. They did find them quickly. Watching the... More

Hotel converted from a mental hospital. Modern looking, with fantastic views of Lake Titicaca from the huge picture windows. Medium size room and smallish bathroom with half-bath. The walls were rather thin. There wasn't much storage space. Breakfast was OK, but the coffee was like dishwater.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2008

We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon, and had a lovely break. The hotel is the best option for location, as it has wonderful views over the Lake which are much better than at any other hotel in Puno, as far as we could see. The staff are very friendly, and we were upgraded to a Junior Suite,... More

hotel was built in the 70's and you will notice that. nevertheless, the view of the rooms with lake view are spectacular. puno is not so nice and this hotel is therefore an oasis. it is a bit out of town set on a beautiful location. restaurant is decent and overall it was a very relaxing stay. we also took... The Libertador Lago Titicaca is located a few kilometers away from the city centre of Puno directly at the lake. The pedestrian area in Puno with its bars and restaurants can be reached in 5-10 minutes by taxi. The architecture of the hotel is very 70s, and the hotel is probably rather four- than five-star. The rooms and the bathrooms... More

From what I understand, the best option in Puno; which I am sure is the case...though also may b due to lack of choices. The hotel is veyr nice and functional but far from 5 star/a MUST. Hotel is on its own island; sits perched on the isle like Alcatraz... offering stunning views, and probably much preffered to be a... More

from both sides of the hotel. Bleak-looking hotel from the outside, however, it is quite comfortable. Although the bedroom was on the small side it was adequate. Excellent bathroom with a good supply of toiletries. Breakfast choice was good and extras, such as poached eggs and omlettes were available. Evening meals were good, if a little pricy.

Short review: Fantastic location, but way overpriced. Staff are impersonal. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. Long review (very): First of all, let me say that this is the first time that I've ever felt moved to write an online review of a hotel, and I have stayed in a LOT of hotels. I'm a travelling IT consultant and I've spent... More
