We were meant to stay at Casa Andina but they were overbooked and we spent 2 nights at the Libertador. It looks a bit tired from the photos but is beautiful inside and the rooms are very comfortable. They are a reasonable size and the bathroom was well appointed. Waking up to see the sunrise over Lago Titicaca is one... more

Good option, though a little expensive for the accoutrements. We enjoyed the morning views from the restaurant and the breakfast buffet. Dinner in the restaurant was good and affordable. Generally a satisfactory stay. more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a package. We also stayed at The Libertador in Cusco. The hotel in Puno is not in the same league as in Cusco. The rating is 5 star however I believe it is more realistically 3 star. The rooms are comfortable enough, but there is no dedicated air conditioning in the building.... more

Puno is extremely poor with few options for lodging, this is really the only really nice place in town. Wonderful location with views of the lake and access to Uros the floating island. The food and drink are reasonably priced, which is nice because you basically have to eat at the hotel. make sure you get a room on the... more

We spent 2 nights at this hotel last week. On arrival our room key would not work and it took my husband two trips to reception to get someone to come and assist. The room was small, in fact very small. Not able to open your case on the floor and no area to store cases either. We were in... more

This hotel is on the lake and whether you are at the front of back of the hotel all rooms have incredible views over the lake and worth waking up early to see the sun rise. When we were there, there were only about 10 guests so it was very quiet. The hotel itself is a little dated but the... more

It was quite chilly when we arrived in Puno but when we got to the Libertador I was excited to see the most incredible fireplace at the hotel bar. Plus, the whole area looked over Lake Titicaca, Puno’s famous tourist destination. It was such a magnificent view and truly a breathtaking experience. I couldn’t believe how incredible our stay was.... more

I was so excited to finally see the grand Lake Titicaca, it was the highlight of my trip. But I would definitely say this…our hotel was the best anyone could ask for. I really wasn’t expecting this much luxurious service but there it was, and I enjoyed every minute of it! I love this hotel and it was honestly an... more

Puno is a quiet little area so there are not many options when it comes to fine hotels. Having a room looking over the famous Lake Titicaca was all I needed for a perfect trip. The Libertador was vastly different from the rest of the town which, in a way, was a plus for everyone in my family. After touring... more

Jul 22, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

A friend of mine and I ended up staying in Puno for four nights rather than our planned one, trapped there by a general strike, arguably longer than any foreigner might strictly wish to be there. For the first two nights, we stayed in another hotel, recommended by both the Rough Guide and Tripadvisor. Freezing to death and entirely depressed... more
