The bed was fine. The shower was hot. Breakfast was good. The Wifi worked. Abdel was nice enough to pack the bow and arrow set that I'd purchased from the Matsiguenka Tribe inside a pvc pipe so I could bring it home on the airplane as packed luggage. Playing with the neighbor's monkey, Lula (and several of her chums) was... More

We had a great time at Tarantula Hostel. The room was clean, the bathroom ok. The pool was really nice and the owner, Abdel really nice with us! The breakfast was actually really nice, compared to some more fancy hostel in bigger city, We took a tour with the hostel, 2d/1n in the jungle, it was awesome! We had great... More

We stayed here for one night and it wasn't enjoyable. The rooms weren't great and there were loads of bugs coming in from somewhere. At one point a tarantula was actually in the room - we had to get the owner to come and deal with it. When my husband went to the bathroom in the night he found three... More

My friend Sarah and I wanted a true adventure in the jungle, and were wary of so many online or even in travel guides that seemed lame. Well, we had a great adventure at the tarantula lodge. The hostel was totally fine. It was clean, the food was great, there is wifi. But we were able to book a tour... More

Tarantula hostel is a friendly and nice place. Not the cheapest in town, but the prices are agreeable. The location is very good for travelers. Five minutes by taxi from the busstation and ten from the centre of Puerto Maldonado. Far enough to be away from the honking cars and close enough to grab a bite in town. It is... More

There aren't many options for cheap lodging in Puerto Maldonado, but this is definitely one of the best. I switched to the Tarantula Hostel after experiencing a night in the Tambopata Hostel and was so happy I made the change - the Tarantula Hostel has beautiful surroundings and is located outside the city center, so you don't have to worry... We booked our reservation for 7 days, and my son and I were hoping for a wonderful relaxing week in the jungle. However, it didn't turn out that way. We weren't met at the airport as promised, so we took a moto-taxi there. We arrived and the worker was friendly enough. We were the only ones at the hostel that... More

I was five nights in the hostel. The place and also the garden is nice. And it has two parrats. Very cool! :-) I slept in a tent in the garden. This was okay for me, because it was cheap. Only the bathroom and the kitchen was not very clean. The trash can in the bathroom was not emptied, but... More

Well, as students we were looking for something cheap in order to spend one week in Puerto Maldonado. But all I found was kind of expensive comparing to the rest of Peru. Fortunately I found this Tarentula's Hostal, which was the only one to suggest nights in tents, at a good price. The place is really well located, because it... More
