Let's just say everything there is perfect, right by the river, animals everywhere, secluded, but the things I must review is the service. Such down to Earth people, perhaps we had common interests, but the couple running the place are so cute and courteous, they are amazing. I will always visit Sotupa when I am in Peru.

We stayed here last year during our visit to the amazon. What a beautiful place and sotupa is so tranquil and calming. We enjoyed some beautiful sunsets here and the owner couldn't have been more helpful. It's a bit of a taxi ride from the main town centre and a boat ride away from the jungle but it's clean and... I spent four days at the Sotupa Eco House from April 23 to 27, 2013. It has been one of the best, perhaps even the best experience of nature in my life. I was at first concerned because of my age (I am 79) that it would be difficult to cope with the situation. In fact, everything went extremely smoothly.... More

looked like a perfect hotel, another jungle night after a wonderfull experience in Heath River Lodge and Sandoval Lake, at least that was what we expected, also because of the very good email follow up still wandering why we needed to give our shoe size... room is ok, a pity that even with the solar pannels no hot water is... We chose the lodge because of close proximity to Puerto Maldonado - no need to travel by boat to get there. The location is lovely - peaceful and quiet. We were prepared for "rustic" but found poor housekeeping and disrepair. Our screens were full of holes, there was no shower head. (Something they don't emphasize in their literature is that... More

We stayed at Sotupa Eco House for 4 days. It is a decent lodge with nice views. But the hosts pretty much ignored us and the food was very average. It was a pricey place to stay and we expected more. I wouldn't suggest this place.

We were a little bit concerned after reading the review about the dogs, but they were kept separately so there was no issue with that. The Lodge is situated right on the riverbank in a beautiful location. Our guides, Christian and Raul, were outstanding!! We have seen loads of different places and animals and the activities included cycling, kayaking and... More

This is my first review, and I only right it as a public safety measure to parents who choose to stay here. The lodge is nice, and the beginning of our experience here was very nice. On the morning of 6/25/2013, after a pleasant breakfast my daughter was viciously attacked by one of the four unrestrained Pit Bulls kept on... More

We are very sorry about the incident. The dogs have been in the lodge since 2009 and we opened to public on 2010, and the dogs have never shown any agressive behavior. We are very suprised abut this incident and we want to give you our most sincere apology. The dogs have been removed from the property. We have built... More

Pros: Great guide (Jackson) arranged by the Lodge, pretty views of the river, loved the private balcony, fresh fruit juices, cold beer, lovely couple running the place with very friendly dogs (4 of them!), loved going to sleep to the chirping of monkeys and waking up to the birds! Overall great value compared to other options and once they are... More

Had an excellent stay at the Sotupa Eco House over the course of 4 days. Our hosts were very hospitable and accommodating during our stay in the jungle and we had an excellent, very knowledgable guide. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of their brand new dining room & kitchen which is nearly complete!!
