The place is amazing. Getting there is quite and adventure and you will have to walk 3Km through the jungle. Then again, that was a big plus for us. You walk through the jungle with monkeys crossing over the tree tops, macaws flying around... Do note the place is a lodge, not a hotel. Any supplies the place has have... More

We so enjoyed our stay at Sandoval Lake, really a highlight of our Peru trip. The trip in involves a motor canoe from Pt Maldonado, a ~1.5 km flat hike (but in the dry season we did not have the mud /rubber boot issue). Porters carry your luggage in. After the walk in you take a canoe ride thru a... More

The best part of this hotel was the experience getting there. It was such a fun adventure and experience taking a 45 minute motor boat up the river, a VERY muddy 2 mile hike, and then canoeing across Sandoval Lake. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff and showed to our "rooms". I use the word room very loosely... More

Dear Mrs. Wolf, You sincere opinions regarding Sandoval are truly welcome by us; currently we are planning on how to improve the Lodge for next season, and most definitely the aspects you mention will be attended. The experience within the Jungle and a Protected Area may sometimes be, as you say, for adventurer spirits, however we always do our best... More

What a wonderful place! If you have not experienced the Amazon then this is the perfect place to do it. The Lake is beautiful and has a family of giant otters there munching away on Piranha fish. There are beautiful birds, black caymen, all kinds of monkeys, trees that walk etc. I enjoyed our stay so much. Be prepared to... More

This is a detailed review and all you need to know about Sandoval Lake Lodge. We booked directly with Inkanatura, the owner and operator of the lodge. We did the 4 days/3 nights, which was just right as in reality you arrive at the lodge around 3-4pm on day 1 and must depart by 8:30am on day 4. With Inkanatura,... More

We really enjoyed this trip. Saw lots of animals and birds, 5 sorts of monkey, sloth, and the giant otters but feel that you need to be aware that after the initial motorised boat trip you then have to walk for 1 and a half hours carrying your own luggage along what in May was a very muddy track (up... Dear Guest, Thanks for sharing your comments with us! Also glad that you had the chance to view lots of animals surrounding that area in Tambopata. On the way to our lodge we walk a trail of 3 Km (2 mi), stopping to watch birds and butterflies. The Reserve has planned to improve this trail and the maintenance of it... More

This place is amazing...I read a lot of the reviews before going, all with a pinch of salt, and I'm glad I did. Yes you have a bit of a trek to get here...but that's all part of the experience...the boat trip down the main river, the walk..its not taxing and brilliant way to get to the lake...then a canoe... I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at Sandoval Lake Lodge. I heartily agree with all the positive points made by others. Our guide Blinio was awesome - extremely helpful, patient, knowledgeable. On our jungle treks and canoe trips he would point out amazing things that we never would've noticed on our own - and then supply interesting... More

I recently stayed here for three nights with a small group of fellow travellers, and it really felt like an adventure from start to finish. Our tour was organised by Inkanatura and we were well looked after from the moment we landed in Puerto Maldonado. We were driven to their office where we were given duffel bags to put our... More

We had an amazing trip to the lake. Our guide Esauu was very knowledgable and took us for jungle walks (day and night) and trips to the lake. The food was really good, there is a nice atmosphere and they are paying attention to conserving the area.
