Bambu Hostel is a great place to stop for a night, before you head to Bocas del Toro, Boquete, or Costa Rica, or to enjoy the pleasures that a small city like David has to offer (supermarkets, pharmacies and shops). Great kitchen with two hobs, a fridge and a huge table to have your dinner! Dorms are basic, but very... More

I might have been extremely lucky with previous hostels I stayed at during my trip. I had to stay one night in David and for that it's ok. The owner and staff is friendly and helpful. Plus for that. However, it's a very noisy place. Until 4 am there was party noise right outside of my (private) room. While this... More

As I read this review, the dreaded fear of the "bad" review grabbed hold of me. "How could she not like our great hostel?" I thought. "She was nice at check in" I remembered. Then this wave of calm swept over me and I began to relax. "Not everyone is going to like you and thats ok", I thought and... More

Great kitchen. Dorm rooms were basic but fine. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Lots of guests hanging out by the pool late into the night talking. Not a crazy loud party scene though. David isn't a very nice city compared to other places in Panama, but it's a good pit stop.

David seems to only have a couple of hostel options and we were really happy choosing Bambu. We ended up extending an extra night. Rooms: I stayed in double private w/bathroom and was definitely satisfied. Clean, had a/c, a small TV, desk area, and a spacious bathroom (warm showers). Wi-fi was strong in the rooms. Facility: Still under some renovations,... More

There are "HOTEL people" and "HOSTEL people", however some folks dont know which one they are. Dont chose a hostel just to save money. Simon would have been happier in a hotel. The issues that Simon expressed shows that he would have been better suited in a hotel. Bambu hostel is exactly what we say it is, a hostel. We... More

This place is a good option for your stop over in David, including if you just need somewhere to sleep for a night before pressing on. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom for USD$28. Room was spartan but clean and spacious. Bathroom clean. Cable tv and good wifi included. Air con also included, which we needed as... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights just whilst we were killing time before our friend arrives as we can explore with him - the pool and tv made this a great place to do that with us able to watch the World Cup and hang out in the pool! Big kitchen is very nicely kept and well equipped-... More

I had been staying at another hostel in town and just wasn't feeling it when I found this gem. The rooms and common areas are nice, the grounds are beautiful, the staff is so friendly. Great value as well! Really felt at home there. Will return next time I visit Panama.

We just completed a large out door kitchen with ten burners and loads of counter space all you need to create a gourmet creation (or a backpackers bowl of pasta) in the comfort and beauty of our flowing garden and pool.. When you are done following all the other tourists to Boquete and Bocas; come spend some time in David. This is real Panama. You will be interacting with Panamanians rather than always being around other tourists. This is a chance to stay at a super cool hostel and explore a real Panamanian city. Dance all night long to Salsa, Merengue, Rock and Reggaeton.. Great restaurants and shopping; and David is cheap!!!! 1/2 The price of Costa Rica. How about a $1 beer in a bar? David is a safe and friendly city too. Get your Latino on in David! New Jungle House in Garden at Bambu Hostel see photo below, built on stilts from native wood and bambu walls with tin roof, sleeps 10 backpackers and overlooks the sparkling pool, only dorm of its kind in Panama! Lonely Planet Recommended International Backpackers Hostel with a Pool and Deluxe tropical gardens in David Panama. We welcome Backpackers and International Travelers from all corners of the world. David is fun! It has everything that a weary traveler could need to recharge the batteries, fine dining, casinos, movie theaters, inexpensive shopping, nightclubs and discos, festivals, and, within 45 minutes, awesome mountains, Caldera Hot Springs, Playa Barqueta and Costa Rica. Come stay with us at Bambu, relax in the garden, swing on a hammock with a cold beer at the Bambu pool bar, dip in the pool and watch the tropical birds flying in the backyard.
