Bambu really has no pretensions. It is a hostel - a cheapish place to stay with good facilities, lovely pool and garden and convivial staff. I only stayed one night with my partner. The first room we were allocated was a good sized double room, but the air con was feeble. Being off season there was no problem moving us... More

We only spent a night here on the way to Boquete, but would've spent longer here if we'd had time. The pool, poolside bar and gardens (where breakfast is served) makes it feel more like a hotel - great value for money. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed - the right balance between social but quiet enough to get some... More

I had a wonderful time at the Bambu Hostel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure that I enjoyed my stay and got to know the best the area has to offer. Of course, it is not a five-star hotel, it is a traveler's hostel, but it more than makes up... More

I was traveling with my father in law and brother in law on a working vacation. We were moving some earth around on a farm on Via Volcan when our lodging reservations fell through without warning at the last minute during Semana Santa (Easter week). We had to wait a couple days before a room here opened, but the wait... More

I read about this hostel in a guidebook on my way from Costa Rica to David...went there last minute, wish I didn't. Worst hostel I stayed in Central/South America... 1 small standing fan in the room for 10 beds. It was hot and humid. The room is in a wooden shack that if anyone walks up the stairs or in... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Chiriqui during our Honeymoon. The owner is really nice and gives everybody a private tour of the hostel upon arrival. If you're looking for a fancy place, this isn't for you. However, if you're adventurous and love to hang out with interesting people in a place that feels like... More

Bambu hostel calls itself a backpacker's oasis, and in the baking heat of David Bambu's lush vegetation and swimming pool are invaluably refreshing. The indoor dorm room and privates are standard and simple, but the jungle house "dorm" gives you the best of tropical Panama without the worst of tropical pitfalls. Reminiscent of a Ngobe stilt house, the jungle house... More

Place is a little rough around the edges. Avoid the 6 bed dorm if you can- was unbearably hot and only 2 weak pedestal fans to try and blow some air around. Staff friendly enough but seems like they have major problems keeping track of bookings and who is in/going to be in what room. Nice pool, garden and bar... More
