This little lodge stuck in the rainforest is the perfect close-by getaway. An hour outside of Panama City by bus and you feel like you're in a whole different world. The service was great--my friend and I went in the low season so we were the only ones there which was quite tranquil. The food is SPECTACULAR. Great little pool... More

Beautiful surroundings, exellent ecological food, friendly staff in small, rustic hotel :-) We stayed two nights in this cozy little hotel with a really nice owner. Jungle tour to a waterfall were we could swim while howler monkeys entertained in the trees. The hotel is not in the luxury class, but the feeling of a real and exclusive adventure is... More

Two nights in Sierra Llorona was a highlight of our trip to Panama. This is no five star accommodation, so, if you are used to luxury, you might get slightly disappointed at first. But it is worth it. The place has a huge backyard with a small pool and a gazebo with hammocks and bird feeders with lots of hummingbirds,... More

We spent 2 days/nights here, and felt completely at home. We had a great, private upstairs suite, which connected to a public but little used balcony, from which we spotted honeycreepers, dozens of tanagers, and various other delights. The grounds are lovely with several trails where one in our birding group spotted a crimson breasted woodpecker. Food was very good,... More

Very calm, peaceful setting in a beautiful location. The main lodge is somewhat of an estate in the middle of the forest with a backyard that has a small pool and different areas to lounge and have a drink or read. There are three rooms to the side of the large house that are basic but very clean and comfortable.... More

Sierra LLorona Lodge, although a relatively short distance from a major highway, has the true feeling of being inside a rain forest, which it is. The accommodation is Spartan but adequate and the whole site is very clean, which is all you can ask for in a rain forest environment, particularly if you are a birder (which I am not)... More

We spent an utterly enjoyable week at Sierra Llorona lodge, birding the grounds and trails in the surrounding rainforest. There are quite a number of birds to be found in the trees surrounding the pool area and the hummingbirds provide non-stop action at the feeders. The staff at the lodge were very helpful and pleasant, going out of their way... More

Basically a decent place to stay, clean, safe. Great birding in the immediate grounds and its trails, including hummingbird feeders in the garden. I enjoyed my time there. Just a couple of caveats: there is a dog at the lodge, and some guests had another dog while I was there, which does not make for completely peaceful birding (one of... More

A lovely relaxing place to stay if you peace and quiet as there are very few rooms and therefore not very many people are here at once. The gardens are beautiful and there is a lovely gazebo that has hummingbird feeders around it. I sat for a whole afternoon with camera poised just taking photos of these aggressive little birds.... Stayed there a couple of months ago. Nice family owned lodge in a big rainforest. Travel times from Tocumen airport is about 1 hour. They arranged our pickup at the airport. Food is made by their cook (Fina) and it is great. However they do not have a menu but fixed meals everyday. A lot of peace, animals, nice small... More
