We arrived at this hotel through a discount arrangement, so we got a very good deal for a 3 days, two night staying. We had room 1105 where the air conditioning was barely felt. We reported this to hotel reception and although they said they would send someone to check it, never did. At the end, we settle with room... More

directly at the Gatun Lake. After our excellent stays in Panama City and our so - so experiance in El Valle de Anton and Pedasí we decided to move to the Melia at the Gatun Lake. About 6 km outside of the city of Colon. It was a good choice!

The area is nice and the hotel is clean. The staff is very friendly and attentive, they will go out of their way for the guests. It is overpriced, and like most all inclusive hotels, the food is average. We rented the room and then make the mistake of "up-grading" for the all inclusive. Don't make the same mistake!

The grounds are beautiful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The all inclusive was not worth it. There are no snacks, there is no sports bar as mentioned on their website. Bars did not have basic ingredients to make drinks on their own menu. Service was slow. There isn't really anywhere else to go locally for meals, so you have to... More

We stayed in an RCI swap unit with a kitchen, two bathrooms and a king sized bed. Positives were very nice employees (who spoke little english but we worked it out), great WIFI and water pressure. They also had off-road bicycles but there was no a big choice of places to go. The room was huge and well decorated with... More

After going through the Canal, the Melia was a welcomed ite for rest. We were greeted and welcomed with refreshing fruit drinks. The dinner and breakfast was an extensive buffet. There were a wide variety of salads, entrees and desserts. For both dinner an breakfast, there was a chef to be prepare selected menu items at our request. The wait... More

Dear Mohammad A, Thanks for spend a few days among us. I'd like to remark that our location instead of being in a remote area, really it's a treasure round the Gatún Lake, because it's recognized for lot of people to relax and feel the nature (Bird watching and eco-natural activities) I'd to know when was your check in in... I am a Club Melia Elite member. I love Melia Hotels in general. A few are not great. Most are excellent to amazing! This hotel is one of the worst experiences I have had n many years. While our room was fine, the hotel had all the signs of a resort that was in its heyday about 15 years ago. Everything was a bit warn. There were very few people around. The dominating characteristic of the hotel was the smell of sewage gas in the hallway leading to the diningroom and the stairwells.

Dear Pilontheroad, Thanks for your review. Certainly I admit we'd a problem around 2 weeks ago about this bad smell, but I can confirm you that it has been solved and even right now our restaurant and other áreas now has a wonderful aromateraphy. I wish you had the opportunity next time to visit us to check it. Anyway, thanks... More

We had a four day stay at the Melia on Lake Gatun. Extremely tranquil setting The best service we had is when Tanisha was at the front desk. Aaron at the door was wonderful. Very helpful, always a smile. We were the only gringos in the place and it was wonderful. We had a condo that had a view of... More
