Because that's what it's usually like at Villa Marita, or Santuario Lodge as the sign says. The area is famous for its micro climates, but VM seems to have gotten one of the wettest ones. The cabins consist of 3 rooms: a front room with a small fridge, a bar sink, a couch and a coffee table. The bedroom consists of two twin beds bolted together, a closet, a wall mounted flat screen TV and a desk and a stool. The bathroom has a shower stall. That's right - no chairs. And no table to sit at if there were. There's no kitchenware of any kind, nor a microwave. I couldn't figure out why the TV was in the bedroom, when it dawned on me: they don't want you eating in the rooms. Speaking of eating - their breakfast isn't to die for. It looks pretty, but it's both unsubstantial and unsatisfying. But you do get black coffee - leche is extra! Were were there 4 days and missed two of the b'fasts. At check out, I was charged for 4 cups of café con leche - about $3.00 ea. When I asked if we'd get a credit for the missed b'fasts, I was informed we wouldn't, and that she 'didn't make the rules'. On the plus side, the rooms were clean and the price is reasonable. Nonetheless, I wouldn't return.

Bring your own food and transportation This will work for you if you want the cabin experience. It is located in the most beautiful hills imaginable. It had good WiFi and that’s where it stops. After that you are on your own. There was no phone and the cable tv had three stations. It is remotely located so you will need to take a cab into town for everything. The cabs stop running in the evening. Once again this place can’t be beat if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle

If you're not looking to spend a lot of $ Villa Marita is perfect. I stayed in two rooms and they were both immaculate...very clean, not well appointed. The showers were great. I met the owner and she was very nice and wanted to make sure her guests enjoyed their stay. The front office staff was very attentive and very kind...margarita and ita...(I am sure I screwed their names up but I lost my notes)...very gracious! Their is a nice little charm to the place...I love the colors and it sits nicely in the hills overlooking Boquete. The breakfast was more than acceptable. Great stay! I would highly recommend it to the budget traveller.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here, in a modern, comfortable 2-room (+bath) private villa with a terrace overlooking the town, valley and mountains. The staff was friendly and helpful (spoke perfect English); arranged taxi transportation for us into town and a tour of Elida Coffee Estate. Breakfast (included) was enjoyable. We would recommend this to couples, individuals, families; it was beautiful!

Very good accomodations and great staff. A bit out of town so peacfull, but you do need a car, especially as they only do breakfast. For other meals you need to be on the move. Separate bungalow-type rooms with fridge, sitting area. Badroom a bit small.

I stayed there with my wife for two nights. We got the room upgraded for free and we stayed in a small villa with a terrace. The place is clean, the area super quite and beautiful and breakfast is great. You can discover the hydroponic plantation of the owner. I loved this place.

I thought I would surprise my wife on Mother's Day with a nice meal out. Villa Marita seemed to fill the bill. It was our first experience at the Villa. Mother's day is celebrated in December in Panama where we now live. The guest dining room at the Villa serves as a restaurant. The property is a retreat overlooking a small valley of rolling hills filled with acres and acres of coffee farms. A beautiful location. There are several casitas and a couple of full sized homes for guests on the property. The five course meal featured a Spanish chicken and rabbit paella garnished with fresh green beans. For openers we were served with a fresh garden salad with a coffee vinaigrette and fresh baked bread rolls. We finished up with a moist cake. We were then provided a coffee liqueur on the house. The owners served the guests, providing great service and attention to details. We loved the whole experience.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay here. We turned up late without a reservation but the owner and staff were able to get us a lovely room at a good rate and made us feel immediately at home. The cabins are spotless, comfortable and spacious. The view is incredible, among the hills with a small castle at the end of the property and really quiet as it's set away from the main town and roads but still close enough to get in easily. WiFi and hot water all worked perfectly (unlike many other places we've stayed in Panama). All the people here were extremely helpful in organising tours while in Boquete and also in recommending paces to visit and how to get there for our onward travel. As we were here for Halloween they organised a party for guests and local residents with some great themed food and drink (see photos!) Would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are in Boquete.
