One couldn't ask for a more serene location with wonderful accommodations &views. Super clean and comfortable and the art hanging on the walls gave the feeling that you were in a fine art gallery. Of all the places we stayed on our 15 day trek through Central America, I have to rate this as the best and would recommend it... More

Stayed for 2 nights and glad it wasn't more. Most unprofessionally run place I have ever stayed. And I have stayed in hostels before. Night 1-the night worker decided to start hammering in the electric box that was on the outside wall of our room. We had to ask him to stop while we slept. Night 2-3children running around outside... On our recent trip to Panama, we had the please of spending one night at Hostal Refugio de Montana where we spent the night in the Tree Top cabin. With a rushing stream alongside of the cabin to lull us to sleep, it was totally delightful. Also enjoyed the conversations with many guests and staff while there. We would have... More

As long as you have a car, this is a nice place to stay. The bed was so-so, but the quiet location and the price was right. The tv cable wasn't working but we didn't really care. The provided breakfast was small but nice.

Booked Hotel Refugio de Montana, after seeing some of the excellent reviews. That was not our experience at all. Rooms were fine. Location not great at all for the town - 5 minute taxi ride. Felt like we were taking a risk, every time we had to flag down a taxi to get there or back. Would have rather stayed... More

We were exciting to stay at Hotel Refugio de Montana because we'd seen some good reviews, but ended up very disappointed in the service. The rooms were okay although not as clean as you'd hope for a hotel room (already used soap?). The garden behind the hotel was relaxing and lovely but that was only the high point for us.... More

This hotel was recommended by a friend that lives in Boquete. For those accustomed to US standards, the value was amazing and the building was amazingly beautiful with equally beautiful surroundings. The staff was very friendly as well, it was nice to practice our Spanish with them. The breakfasts were interesting, something different each day that the staff had prepared... More

The room was ok but rather bare with no table just a shelf to use. The breakfast was Continental and even at that disappointing. It was meant to start at 7 am but frequently nothing was on the breakfast table by 7:15. There was some fruit, juice, and some not very fresh bread/rolls to toast, and there was a not... More

The hotel looks clean, as if it was opened very recently. Staff is friendly and the room is clean. The hotel has a large shady garden, full of birds and with a great view. There is only one serious complaint: there is nothing to eat or drink. Breakfast is very limited with toast, marmelade, orange juice and some kind of... More

The photos don't capture the magic of this hotel. The architecture is simple but captivating, as is the decor. Outside in the garden you are protected from the winds, but can still hear them as they rustle the higher tress surrounding the property. Like others, I would say the breakfast leaves a it to be desired.
