We stayed in Crowne Plaza complex 3 bed Villa for 6 days recently. Salalah is not a European/ American style well developed resort. The City is interspersed with fruit/ veg growing farms. I enjoy the hotel for its membership possibilities and many of its top-notch staff. The upstairs restaurant has been sliding significantly in basic quality/hygeinic servings recently but nevertheles there are enough devoteed staff there to possible raise the bar a bit. So as a first time to Salalah you really have two choices: The Hilton (best services) or the Crowne Plaza (best unobstructed beach). Both are expensive for what they are.
