you will find the sunrise resort on top of jebel shab and it"s a pretty perillous journey to get there !! Luckily l had a very good driver to get me there. There are various types of accomodation available to choose from,we stayed in an en suite cabin and it was lovely and clean. We had a bbq pit beside us... More

Perfect mountain location away from the crowds. Route to the camp is on a track that requires 4WD (with clearance) especially with rain. Exhilarating ride up to the camp (the signs not so easy to spot so keep an eye out) but makes the stay even more fun. I wouldn't want to do the route after dark though - requires... More

Well the location is good. A nice drive up the mountains preferably in a 4X4 and an isolated resort. Staff are very friendly nothing much to expect as its an all just basic place. We did camping with our own tents on their grounds. We had breakfast at their restaurant, it was nicer than what we expect.

The camp is located in a beautiful and remote spot high on Jebel Shams away from other visitors. Unlike other camps it is laid out attractively amongst trees and shrubs. It is very spacious and blends well with the environment. The staff are delightful and made our stay a real pleasure. I recommend you try following the white arrows up... More

A basic room stuck on a plateau exposed to near freezing winds and almost freezing temperatures, and not a drop of alcohol in sight. Once the charm of watching the dancing flames of the bonfire had started to subside, there was nothing else to do. The showers work effectively and saturate the shower room, and the water drains away slowly.... More

The experience is amazing! Sleeping in the middle of the Omani mountains, no noise at all, only the nature! The street to get there is quite difficult (that's why I would suggest to get there with a local guide, I wouldn't go by myself). The sunset but especially the sunrise is something you can't miss, and the atmosphere is just... More

I've written about Sunrise before as it is one of my favourite places to go. Exceptionally clean. Safe. Friendly. However, the management no longer allow customers to bring alcoholic beverages. We assume others have abused this privilege, hence this decision. It is a shame for those of us who just love to sit under the stars with a drink in... More

We visited this place accidently in last January. We had booked another resort in Jebel Shams, but by the time we reached, it became late (11 PM) and they had given our rooms to somebody else. We tried all the other resorts, but all were full. On the way back to Nizwa, we saw the board of the Sun Rise... More

I stayed here for one night recently in the Arabic tent, which involves having the use of a individual bathroom 'outhouse' for each tent, right next to your tent to do the necessary. It's not really a bother unless you need to run to the toilet during the night. From what I see the only downside of the tent rather... More

The drive up to this resort was great fun in my 4*4. Amazing views when you dared take your eyes off the road and the setting of the resort is spectacular as you are just a short walk away from the huge gorge. I booked one of the Arabic Tents and first impressions were OK. It was off peak season... More
