We visited this place accidently in last January. We had booked another resort in Jebel Shams, but by the time we reached, it became late (11 PM) and they had given our rooms to somebody else. We tried all the other resorts, but all were full. On the way back to Nizwa, we saw the board of the Sun Rise... More

I stayed here for one night recently in the Arabic tent, which involves having the use of a individual bathroom 'outhouse' for each tent, right next to your tent to do the necessary. It's not really a bother unless you need to run to the toilet during the night. From what I see the only downside of the tent rather... More

The drive up to this resort was great fun in my 4*4. Amazing views when you dared take your eyes off the road and the setting of the resort is spectacular as you are just a short walk away from the huge gorge. I booked one of the Arabic Tents and first impressions were OK. It was off peak season... More

We stayed here because Jabal Shams resort was full, and we were not disappointed. First of all, the drive there is exhilarating and offers some excellent views. PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED A 4x4 FOR THIS. The rooms/chalets are a bit damp and small, but the location makes up for this in full. Diner was good and sufficient. Go for... More

The place is nice and the personell is helpful. Many things are still under construction, the pool for example, but most of the facilities are up and running. We stayed one night in an arabic tent. It was the coldest night ever! Temperature goes down to zero degrees in this period and the little electric heather was not enough to... More

After a very adventurous drive from muscat into the mountains i arrived here to see the most stunning view of the sun setting and the hotel covered in clouds. The drive is a long one but well worth it, its adventurous and something you cant experience anywhere else. It is a basic resort, With either Tents or Chalets. The tents... More

This was a really pleasant suprise. We were hoping to spend a night over the Eid break at the JSR (Jebel Shams Resort) but it was fully booked so we booked here instead. It was slightly cheaper at 60SAR per room per night (for a couple) this included a great breakfast and a lovely buffet stle evening meal, nothing fancy... More

The resort was absolutely fabulous. We stayed in the big house secluded in the back of the resort. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They even went as far as cooking just for us when we were late for dinner. The place is very clean, yet basic and... More

With just over 3 hours drive from muscat, this is a great place to un-wind and explore the nature. The drive was amazing, with paved road most of the way but to get to the resort theres a 20kms stretch of dirt roads, so a 4x4 is required. The resort was nothing fancy and we (family of 2 adults and... More

This is a simple resort (think of a campsite with permanent buildings as opposed to tents) in a great location. Getting there is an adventure and the resort itself is very isolated, which we liked. The rooms are basic - with ikea style furniture and a very interesting (??) decor, but very clean indeed. You are given a towel each... More
