Lovely room, severely let down by service and food quality - no help with luggage, service in the restaurant was slow, even by African standards - menu is unimaginative and dull more

We stayed in Burning Shores after getting engaged near Sossusvlei. After driving 5 hours on gravel roads, we found the hotel to be banal and completely devoid of any character or personality. Felt like staying in a mediocre hotel in Europe with no sense that we were in Namibia. It was a severe let down as the hotel had been... more

We were a party of 10 using 5 rooms, one of which was a family room. (3 ex South Africa, 7 ex UK). This commentary is a consensus view of the whole party. The location is wonderful, right on the beach. The food was great. A number of small problems were dealt with immediately. Excellent Manager and staff. Cannot be... more

I had a small group stay in the hotel - during booking process they came back and saidI was 1 room short after having had a confirmation - on arrival the rooming list was mixed up . In the morning the breakfast buffet wasnt ready and after a long wait 3 of my group got up and left as hot... more

The Burning Shore was a real let down and it does seem to be monopolising on the fact that Brad /Anjie stayed there. If you are going to that area I am sure you can do a lot better for the money! It was not worth it at all and we would not recommend it! The Burning Shore is basically... more

Please do not be fooled by the fact that Brad and Angelina were guests at this establishment. Since their stay, a completely different set of management have taken over the running of this hotel, and all is not well at Burning Shore! While the views are exquisite, and the Suite has a very large bathroom complete with jacuzzi and walk-in... more

When staying at the Burning Shore you are definitely paying for the sea-side view. It is approximately 5 miles from Swakopmund so you are outside the hustle and bustle of town. There are only a few rooms so you don't see a lot of people. The staff are very nice and attentive to one's needs. I would have to agree... more

Like many other reviewers, we had believed some of the hype and expected "luxury" as per the website details. If you are expecting 3* comfort, and are lucky enough to get an ocean view, then it's fine. If you are looking for luxury accommodation, highly attentive service and fine dinning, look elsewhere (and probably outside Swakopmund!) more

We've just returned from our honey moon in Namibia. We had booked a room for two nights in The Burning Shore expecting it to be a deluxe hotel, as they claim themselves to be. Well, definitely, it is not. It hardly is a 3 star. It's not that is not good if you're simply expecting a nice B+B. Its old... more

Burning Shore is an elegant hotel located about 5 miles from Swakopmund on the road to Walvis Bay. Unfortunately, this does mean that you have to drive in order to take advantage of the facilities and restaurants in town. However, the hotel is very nice and we had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea. The whole hotel is... more
