Was in Namibia for two months...started and ended my stay at the Burning Shore. The bad hype is behind this property- excellent, friendly staff, lovely accomodations, and a great restaurant to boot! Exactly mid-way between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay in an area known as Langstrand, an upscale residential beach community. Dune riding and kayaking very nearby. Rates were not extremely... More

We had such a wonderful stay at Burning Shore! The staff is professional and friendly, the establishment is clean & tidy, the security was great, and we felt really at home there! The breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of treats to choose from! If you're looking for warm hospitality, a home away from home, and a gem in... More

We visited The Burning Shore for holidays a week ago and we were surprised after reading all the bad reviews. We enjoyed our stay and were very happy with all the services and we dont have any complaints. Please dont see it as the Brangelina five star hotel, just see it as a normal Namibian hotel for normal people who... More

Stayed here for 1 night in December 2010. Luckily we got a discounted rate at almost 50%, and at that rate, the stay was average. It would be severly overpriced for what you get if you pay full whack. Design of room let down by open plan toilet (why anyone finds this romantic is beyond me). Design/decor fine, but again,... I went to this hotel on a planning and team build. Its a nice place with some very big rooms, the staff are nice and the view is nice. Everything is nice - but not much is exceptional. There's a lot to do around and about, but beyond a beach with flamingoes and the odd seal (sometimes decomposing on the... More

Very poor welcome (in contrast to all other places we stayed). We were travelling with friends who were shown into a large double windowed room overlooking the beach and ocean - ours had no window and was tiny. As they had no other guests they "upgraded" us to the same size room...but...no coffee or tea with the tea making facilities,... More

Lovely room, severely let down by service and food quality - no help with luggage, service in the restaurant was slow, even by African standards - menu is unimaginative and dull More

We stayed in Burning Shores after getting engaged near Sossusvlei. After driving 5 hours on gravel roads, we found the hotel to be banal and completely devoid of any character or personality. Felt like staying in a mediocre hotel in Europe with no sense that we were in Namibia. It was a severe let down as the hotel had been... More
