Having stayed in three riads pitched at a similar price range in Marrakech, we felt the Dar Lazuli lacked the attention to detail and cleanliness that marked out its competition (as well as the fresh and plentiful Moroccan breakfasts). In the plus category, the owners were incredibly helpful in terms of the information they sent on to us in advance... more

Hidden down one of Essaouira's backstreets is the charming and airy Dar Lazuli. After a long and tiring journey, it was bliss to recline in such a well presented and looked after place, and throughout our stay here, it served as a relaxing and peaceful retreat. The only thing which ever broke this tranquility were the footsteps from above, which... more

It was an amazing experience spending some days in Dar Lazuli. An oasis of calm, so beautiful in its many details. Located in the Medina you're in the middle of the hustle and very near the beach, but once you come back home (so it feels), you have everything you need to feel so comfortable... and no noise, just the... more

It's almost annoying when you can't fault a place - Dar Lazuli definitely falls into this category: Wonderful and friendly staff that went out of their way to make sure me, my friend and my 4 year old son had everything we need, not that much was required as the apartment (Serocco) was well stocked (fridge with freezer compartment, cooker... more

The apartments were all beautifully designed and decrated and looked after faultlessly by Latifa and Rashid. The main terrace is a real suntrap and there are even two others to choose from if you prefer shade or a bit of a breeze. Essaouira is slow paced and very relaxing, with something for everyone: beach, pool and souks. If you want... more

We strongly recommand this adress. The two little details that could be improved concern the price (little bit more expensive than other similar places) and the lack of breakfast (normaly included at other places). more

Have recently returned from Essaouira, Morocco where I stayed in one of these delightful apartments in a converted riad. I'd seen the website plus a read a couple of reviews and it looked perfect for what we wanted - a post-Glastonbury retreat! We arrived at 4.30am and waiting for us with a huge smile was the lovely Rachid, who looks... more

Latifah & Rachid looked after us very well. Notes provided at time of booking also really useful for making the most of our stay. We went to surf but weather conditions (windy beach) make it better for windsufing/kite-boarding. Kitchens well equipped for self-catering if you're brave enough to buy ingredients. Food so cheap to eat out we only ever had... more

I have to say that Dar Lazuli truely was a beautiful place to stay. We rented three of the four suites and were very happy with them. The only bad point was that the rooms and matresses were alittle bit damp, but the building is over 200 years old so i guess this is to be expected. Rachid and Latifa... more

We stayed at Dar Lazuli for 3 nights in May. The riad is beautiful and in an excellent location. We stayed in the Calima apartment and we were the only guests at the time so it was very quiet and peaceful, a little oasis from the busy streets outside. The riad is beautifully furnished, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Rachid... more
