For our first night in Morocco, we booked a room at the Riad Dar Nafoura. The whole experience of landing in Marrakesh, the bustling street life and the experiences along the road to the coast were exciting, until we arrived late in the evening in Essaouira. Finding the hotel, hiding away in the labyrinthine old city, is tricky, a smartphone... More

The wellknown riad (bed & breakfast) Dar Nafoura in Essaouira's medina has a new hostess, Gemma. She is running this wonderful, silent, charming and aesthetical riad very nicely. My family recieved excellent service including room service and homemade breakfast with a different meny every morning. Every room in the riad is decorated in a unique way, and e.g. our room... We had a lovely welcome by the French lady proprietor. She made a real effort to make us feel at home, even buying us cheese for breakfast (not often found in Morocco). All the rooms are decorated in ver vibrant colours. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace where you have a little glimpse of the sea. Homemade cakes were... More

The riad is a short walk from the bustle of the centre of the medina. It is beautifully decorated and is filled with plenty of light. The roof terrace provides a great view of Essaouira, and is where breakfast is served. Unfortunately if you bring heavy luggage it's left to you to lug it up the stairs, as there is... More

We chose to spend 12 days in Essaouira in order to relax and enjoy this seaside town out of season. The atmosphere at Dar Nafoura was just perfect for that. After a long stroll along the beach going back to the Riad was a pleasure. The fireplace would be on and Monique would offer us mint tea or coffee (and... More

Although the Riad itself is very nice, and the new owner is nice, I did not appreciate having to take my 2 weeks piece of luggage to the 4th floor myself in a narrow staircase. I believe if you have 4 floors, you should at least have a "monte-charge" otherwise, it's good if you're a backpacker. Breakfast was good, dinner... More

I’ve traveled one month in Morocco during the summer with some friends and my girlfriend. I’ve stopped in Essaouira twice during my trip and stayed at the Riad Dar Nafoura both times – initially chose it mainly for the location as situated 2 minutes away from the gate Bab Marrakech and close to the beach (walking distance). The rooftop and... More

We were met at the Bab Marrakech entrance to the Medina within 5 mins of calling to say we had arrived and led to the Riad. The Riad is in a great location, it has a beautiful entrance hall and is really quiet considering its location. We opted for a cheap room so it was pretty small compared to the... More
