Our third visit to amazing Essaouira - a city that has something for everyone. However, it was our first visit to this fabulous gem of a find for accommodation. From the moment we received a genuinely friendly welcome to when we all too soon had to leave to continue our 3 week tour, we felt so relaxed and comfortable. The... More

Very nice riad located within the medina. Excellent terrace with an incredible view on the sea. The rooms are very nice the most expensive with a beautiful view, the cheaper without windows. Excellent breakfast.

If you are looking for a typical riad from which to explore the souks of Essaouira then look no further. My room was full of interesting furniture, pictures and artefacts. I'm a artist myself and got so much inspiration just from inside the riad, let along outside in the souks. The staff were lovely and breakfast sat out on the... More

"La maison des artistes" is the paradise!! It is one of the beautiful places, I have ever been, cute, french and moroccan style. Sophisticated. The owner is a wonderful lady and it is a pleasure to talk with her. If you are planning a trip to Morocco, so you have to go to Essaouira, authentically than Marrakech and you also... More

Our first time in Essaouira, even if it was only for 2 days, we totally fell in love with Essaouira! We stayed at Maison des Artistes, and we were pretty sure we had the best riad in town. First thing you'll see when you arrive, was this riad all white with vintage & arty decoration with alot of good taste,... More

Stayed here for second time December 2013. Negotiated a discount when checking the place out the night before, then turned up to be told by the manageress that the man we had spoken to didn't have authority to do so. As far as i'm concerned, you should keep your word, once given. Nearly walked out but it was getting late... More

We visited La Maison des Artistes after an unpleasant incident in Riad Dar Ourika in Marrakech, where our camera was stolen, and the staff here were fantastic. They kindly offered us an upgrade free of charge, but the room we had booked, Florence, was absolutely lovely, with amazing sea views. The building is old, and therefore perhaps a little shabby,... La Maison des Artistes suffers from lack of care. The view out to sea (we stayed in the large pavillion room on top of the building) was quite spectacular, but unfortunately the bin wasn't emptied, the bedding was quite old and cheap and simply it did not justify the price (£100 ish per night). I left my phone charger there... More

We stayed in the Scala room which had doors opening onto the terrace with wicked views of the sea. One of the reasons we picked this room was cause of the bath in it but the water ran so slowly there was never much reason in running a bath. And the bath water came out on the terrace when you... if you are able to switch rooms during your stay do so, since each one of them is different. The sea views through the windows is worth each Dinar. Have breakfast in the top before joined by the seaguls.
