Maison du Sud Essaouria Arriving mid afternoon to a warm and thrilling assault on the senses in Essaouria. We left our taxi at the gate of the Medina and headed on foot to find our hotel. We walked deeper into the heady heart of the famous medina, not hurriedly, as it was like being on a brilliant film set. We... More

We had a lovely stay here. It's a beautiful building, traditionally decorated with some lovely touches. As stated in other reviews, the rooms are really spacious and we had a little sitting room which was nice. Bathroom was a bit basic but probably typical for Morocco unless you pay a lot more, and it was cleaned really well every day.... More

We stayed in this riad for 2 nights. The locations is great. It is in the middle of the medina and souks, close to the fort and harbor, easy to find and get around. The rooms are very spacious. Ours was 2 storey with a double bed on both the bottom and top floor. We also had a sitting area... More

I stayed at the Maison du Sud in June 2014 and was given a room at the top of the hotel. No problem you would have thought - but, ignoring the mosque morning prayers which you get used to, the seagulls on the roof were so noisy during the evening, night and early morning that sleep was impossible. The shpwer/toilet... More

A comfortable and friendly Riad in the heart of the medina. Nice rooms with a lot of character. Mine was on two levels. Boiled egg croissant and bread with jam and honey for breakfast. Wifi worked fine but downstairs only. I would recommend this property.

I was staying at this Riad early October and it had a very good location, right in the middle of the medina. The disadvantage of the location is that its very close to the mosque, so be prepared for morning prayers. My room was spacious (with a small sofa and table in the middle) and had a very Moroccan charm.... More

We stayed here for 2 nights during the Gnaoua music festival. It is very well located in the medina. The rooms are large and clean. Breakfast was Ok however the connection for the wifi wasn't good. there is no internet in the rooms and the wifi (when available) is only present in the common areas. However the staff was friendly... More

I was booked into this hotel by Around Morocco Tours and was really thankful for their expertise in picking the good spots. I stayed here with a friend for 3 days in March. It is in a fabulous spot in the Medina where all I had to do was just roll out the front door and spend my money in... More

We spend a week here in March and were very pleased with the whole week. The rooms are excellent and the entire hotel is very well done and colorful, the staff was beyond excellent and added much to our enjoyment of the hotel. The stairs are a bit difficult so olderor travelers with walking issues may not be well served... More

Maison du sud was two buildings. It is now a stunningly arranged riad with what were two central courtyards that are now covered in stained glass covers. The walls in the public areas are adorned with ever changing contemporary art works. Other reviewers have commented on the stairs but my room ( Room 2) was on the first floor which... More
